Seeing her again hit him like a sucker punch—and then she turned, revealing a baby on her hip. A baby girl with his unmistakable green eyes staring back at him…

New York City photographer Eva Livingston captured a murder in Central Park—an execution by someone with a badge. Protective custody didn’t last long; the safe house was ambushed within days. With nowhere left to run, she turned to the only man who might keep her alive—the father of her child.
Gavin DeGrey had no business getting involved with anyone, least of all the woman who once slipped past all his defenses. He’d built his life around staying detached—for good reason. But when Eva shows up at HERO Force with danger on her heels and his baby in her arms, walking away isn’t an option.
Now they’re in a race to disappear before the killer finds them first, dodging bullets and buried truths as Gavin pulls Eva and their daughter deeper into HERO Force’s protection—and into his world. But the longer they stay close, the harder it is to forget the past between them… and the fierce, rising heat that refuses to be ignored.
