His Road Home
Rey Cruz needs a fiancée.
The Special Forces sergeant has one week to find a woman who can pass the scrutiny of a nosy Afghan warlord. The problem is, Rey’s deployed all the time and only knows his teammates. Out of ideas, he uses a photo of a long-ago high school classmate, but a shocking event throws Rey and the fake engagement announcement into the national spotlight.
Grace Kim needs answers.
The Seattle marine biologist has no idea why a guy from her hometown would claim to be engaged to her, but everyone else assumes the shocking news is true. She doesn’t know how to tell her heartbroken parents, her patriotic boss, or her meddling sister that America’s latest hero is a liar, not even when the media whirlwind pushes her to his hospital bedside.
Grace finds a charming guy with the hottest arms she’s ever touched, but what he needs most during his injury rehab is a friend. Even if their relationship isn’t real, she texts him every night from her side of the country, because that’s what friends do. And friends spend a lot of time thinking about each other’s lips. That’s completely rational, isn’t it?
When it’s time for Rey to move back to Washington state, he asks Grace to drive his classic muscle car cross-country during Thanksgiving. This trip is the chance for their fake engagement to become the real deal, if they can figure out how to tell each other what they need before the road takes them all the way home.
