He killed her brother in the line of duty. Now he’s the only man she can trust to keep her alive.

Six years ago, Secret Service agent Sebastian Whitaker took a bullet saving the Vice President’s daughter from an assassin. The nation called him a hero. Sebastian called it the day his life ended.
Now he’s in Montana, working for Shadow Point Security, keeping his head down and his past buried. Until the girl he once saved is murdered outside Sutton Crenshaw’s tattoo shop—and Sutton becomes the next target.

Sutton hates Sebastian for shooting her brother, but now a killer is after her. With nowhere else to turn, she runs to the man she blames for ruining her life.
Sebastian doesn’t hesitate—he takes her in and steps between her and every threat that follows. But protecting her means facing everything he’s tried to bury—the bullet, the headlines, the grief. Protecting her should be simple. Professional. Temporary.

It isn’t.

Because Sutton isn’t just the sister of the man he killed. She’s wounded, fierce, impossible to forget—and the only person who can get past his walls.
And when they discover that her brother may have been part of something far darker than they imagined, they find themselves pulled into a conspiracy that could get them both killed.
