Her father would bury me for touching her. I’m getting her back anyway.

Thunder
She said no more lies. She said we were done.
Now she lives two cabins from my front door. I see her every damn day, building her life on this ranch like I’m not standing right here, and she looks straight through me like I’m a fence post.
I let her go once. I told her I’d give her time.
I never told her I’d give her up.
I’ve got a bullet fragment in my hip and a limp I’m fighting out of with every minute of PT they’ll give me, and I’m doing every second of it for one reason. She’s not going to look at me and see a broken man.
She’s going to look at me and see the same one who put his hand in her hair and made the rules—the one who broke every single one of them for her.
Her family’s still in pieces. Her sisters barely speak to her. Her father still doesn’t know his Sergeant at Arms has had his hands all over his youngest daughter, and if he finds out, there’s a hole out past Big Spring with my name on it.
I don’t care.
I’ve got something inked on my neck now. Got it while she was gone. She hasn’t seen it yet.
When she does, she’s going to know exactly what it means. She’s going to know I never stopped. She’s going to know that every day she spent hating me, I spent loving her harder.
Rules are done, rattlesnake. No more sneaking around in the dark. No more pretending you don’t feel it.
I’m coming for you in the daylight. And I’m not asking.
