“So that’s going to be on GNN News tonight?” he asks.

“Yes, sir. It’s also going to be an all our social media. We areGNN Globalacross all social media platforms. Follow us,” she says with a smile.

“I will,” the man says, then turns and walks away.

Amanda turns to me. “None of that is usable. He barely answered the question I asked him.”

I laugh and turn to Stephen, Amanda’s cameraman. “Hi Steve.”

He nods at me.

“Let’s take a 15-minute break. Then we will try and get a few more then head back to the office,” Amanda says to Steve.

He nods again, hikes up the tripod with the camera still attached to it onto his shoulder and walks off.

Amanda and I get our burritos and sit on the curb under a tree outside the market.

“So, what’s wrong?” Amanda asks as she peels the foil back from her burrito.

“What do you mean?”

“I know I’m amazing and everything, but I’m not so amazing that you would want to spend your one day off in weeks with me. So, what’s wrong?”

I sigh. “I have some family drama going on.”

“What happened?”

“I’m going to tell you something, but you have to promise not to say anything to anyone.”

“Okay…”

“No, you have to say the words ‘I promise’.”

“Fine,I promise…”

“I went to high school with Adam Grant. He is my brother’s best friend, and they’ve stayed pretty close over the years.”

“Really? What a small world. I can’t believe you’ve known Adam Grant this entire time and never mentioned it.”

I wave off her comment. “Anyway, remember when you said Adam and Brady look alike?”

I pause and realization barrels into Amanda. She swallows her mouth full of burrito with some effort, her eyes pop out and her jaw drops.

“Adam is Brady’s father,” I confirm.

Still incredulous, she says, “No…”

“Yes, he is. I’ve kept that information from everyone all these years, even Adam. They all found out recently and it has been an adjustment, but Lucas is really angry about the whole thing. He has this archaic notion that Adam betrayed him, and I don’t know how to make him get over it.”

Amanda finally picks her jaw up off the floor. “Check me out. It’s like I’m Nostradamus over here.”

I smile. “Yeah, you were pretty on the nose with that.”

“Wow… This is crazy.”

“Yes, it is and I don’t know how to fix any of it.”

“It’s not your job to fix any of this. Lucas needs to work through his feelings about this himself. Eventually, he’ll come around. Sometimes, you just have to let these things burn out by themselves.”
