“I’d be more satisfied if you let me suck it.”
“Have you ever given a man a blowjob, baby?”
Her adorable cheeks turn pink again. “No, but I’m sure I can figure it out.”
“I’m sure you can. Another day.” I grab the covers and drag them over our bodies as she snuggles against my chest.
She twists to look around. “Where’s my T-shirt?”
I find it and toss it off the bed.
“Hey…” she squeals. “I’m not sleeping naked.”
“Sure you are.”
She gasps. “I’ve never slept naked.”
After rolling to my back, I wrap my arm around her and pull her against my side. “From now on, you sleep naked.”
“What if I get cold?”
“We’ll turn up the heat or add more covers.”
Blair sighs and nestles her cheek against my chest. “You’re so bossy.”
“I can be,” I say, trailing my fingers up and down her spine.
“I think I like it,” she murmurs before suddenly jerking her head up to look me in the eyes. “But only in bed.”
“Understood.” I’m certain she’s a strong, independent woman, and I wouldn’t want her any other way. It’s what turned me on in the first place.
Not to say I won’t get my way when she does something unsafe. I thought I would have a heart attack when I found her inside that dilapidated house earlier. I couldn’t resist grabbing her and hauling her outside. Leaving her there was totally against my better judgment, too. I’m thankful as fuck that she was not buried alive when the structure collapsed. Now that I know her better, next time I’ll be firmer. I would never leave her unattended in a dangerous situation anyway.
I kiss the top of her head before leaning over to turn off the lamp. “Sleep, baby.”
The storm is still raging outside. Now that we’re not distracted, it’s loud.
She strokes the hair on my chest. “You’re certain we’re safe? It’s so windy out there.”
“Positive, princess. Totally safe. If I had any doubts, I would move us to the safe room.”
“Okay.” She slowly relaxes until eventually she falls asleep.
Sleep doesn’t come so easily for me. My mind is racing with thoughts of the future. I’ve found my soulmate, and I intend to not only claim her in every way but do everything in my power to ensure no one thinks they have any hold over her.
From now on, Blair makes her own decisions. Not her parents and not some guy who thought he would marry her and merge their families. Who does that?
I’ll look this guy up first thing in the morning. I wonder if he’s on board with this marriage of convenience or if he’s just as unnerved by it as Blair is. I’ll find out and do everything in my power to make sure everyone involved lets go of the barbaric notion.
I’d rather Blair not be cut off from her family. I hate that my parents are gone and will never meet their grandkids. It would hurt my soul for Blair’s mom and dad to have no part in our children’s lives. Hopefully, they will come around, but I won’t let them near Blair or our kids if they can’t accept my wife for who she is.
I know Blair thinks otherwise, but I suspect someone from her family will show up here as fast as they can make arrangements to do so. When they arrive, Blair will be wearing a diamond that can’t be overlooked. If I’m lucky, she’ll also be pregnant with our first child.
I’d bet my last dollar, they have her phone and computer tracked. Her phone is currently sitting on the bathroom counter. It might even be dead, but if it wasn’t when she arrived, her parents will have used my cell tower to ping her location.
Her family might not have been able to pinpoint her exact coordinates yesterday, when she had no connection at her homestead, but the service on Gallant Mountain is strong.
The clock is ticking.
