Maybe even a god.

“I’m going to come—again,” I moan between the kisses he peppers along my collarbone.

“What are you waiting for, Ves?” he croons. “Drown my cock.”

His filthy words are my undoing, every muscle tightening as an orgasm rocks through me.

Silas shudders below me right before I feel a spread of warmth.

It feels like I’m floating, drunk on lust and love.

“We should get back to the others,” I shakily whisper, dropping my mouth down to his.

On a deep sigh, he nods once. “Spend the night with me at my place. We leave for a seven-day away series the day after tomorrow, and I need to soak up all the time I can get with you.”

I just smile because I can’t get enough of this man. And because I’m already fully aware of his game schedule.

“It’s kind of cute that you think I wouldn’t know when you’re away with the team.”

Silas rests his hand back on my stomach.

“And that you’re already trying to feel for when the baby kicks. We’re a long way out from that, babe.”

Leaning forward, he nibbles on my earlobe before whispering, “It’s kind of cute that you would assume I’m feeling for movements when I’m still trying to believe that you’re carrying my baby in the first place. How did I get this fucking lucky?”

. . .

Vesper

Riley’s in December is always madness, but tonight is especially busy.

I haven’t stopped, the soles of my feet screaming in the Nike sneakers Silas bought me over two years ago. I should probably replace them, but I’m too frugal and stubborn to spend money on anything for work.

At least the tips tonight have been good. The start of the Christmas period always has people tossing cash around like candy—that is, until January hits, and everyone retracts into their shell, financially broke and grumpy.

Taking a twenty-dollar bill from a tall, dark-haired guy who is clearly out on a date with the redhead standing next to him, I mix the cosmopolitan she ordered and pour him a Jack Daniel’s and Coke, and he tells me to keep the change.

I stick two dollars in the tip jar and spin around to take the next order, coming face-to-face with Silas’s teammate Mason.

“What are you doing here?”

He looks as shocked as I feel. “I was going to ask you the same question. Silas said that you don’t usually work on Wednesday nights.”

Julian, one of my team members, takes over serving, which gives me a few minutes to talk with Mason. To date, we haven’t had all that much interaction, but from the little we have spoken, I like him. Even if I didn’t already know he was going through a tough time personally, I would be able to tell that from the dark circles around his bloodshot eyes.

He looks like he hasn’t slept properly in days, maybe even weeks.

“I’m picking up extra shifts where I can. Having a baby is going to be a drain financially.”

After we finished having the best cabin sex known to man, Silas and I fell into lazy conversation before we returned to the rest of the group. Turned out, he’d told the guys about the pregnancy not long before I broke it to the girls. Probably just as well since I’m terrible at keeping my own secrets, particularly exciting ones.

This week has been weird without Silas around, although we’ve spoken on the phone every night. And even though we aren’t officially together, it feels like we’re dating.

I think if he asked me to be his girlfriend, then I’d definitely say yes.
