Now their unwillingness to get up for day care this morning made sense. I thought it was because they wanted to stay home and play since they were together.
“Mommy, is Kee gonna marry you now?” Liam asked.
I twisted back in my seat, my cheeks burning, and looked straight forward.
“That’s not how it works, honey,” I muttered.
“Yeah huh,” Liam argued.
“Da rules,” KJ agreed.
“Boys, you shouldn’t have been spying on us. We’ll have to talk more about that later,” I said, trying to get the conversation back to safer waters.
The car was silent for a moment before Liam asked, “Can we be brothers?”
“We are brothers, Li. They kissed,” KJ said in a tone so matter of fact, I would have believed his ass if I didn’t know any better.
Finally, I got up the courage to glance at Keegan, and I was surprised to see him fighting back a laugh. “A little help here, please?”
His laugh seemed to push its way out, because it was loud and sudden. “I kind of like this conversation, Chyna Doll.”
His hand found my thigh, and all the tension in my body seeped out of me as I melted back into the seat.
“Fine, then. You can answer their questions,” I murmured as I resumed my previous activity of staring out the window.
I got a kick out of Keegan struggling to answer the boys’ questions for the rest of the ride to work, but as soon as we pulled into the parking lot of the big-ass building Keegan owned, I knew I needed to focus. I had so much to figure out and a ton of work to catch up on. I just knew I needed this day to be productive, and thinking about Keegan Slater was anything but productive.
It felt weird to be on the top floor of the building. I only came up here during orientation tours for new hires. This was where all the executives worked. This was where Keegan worked.
He had summoned me, for some reason, right before I was about to go on my lunch break. The morning had been full of scheduling orientations and preparing welcome emails and packets for new hires. I barely even registered that it was lunchtime. If it wasn’t for my rumbling stomach, I wouldn’t have known any better. I hoped whatever Keegan wanted was quick so I could go to the deli down in the lobby of the building and fill my neglected stomach. I had been so disoriented by being at Keegan’s house this morning that I failed to eat breakfast.
When I stopped in front of Keegan’s misted glass door, I lifted my fist and knocked.
“Come in, Doll,” his voice said just loud enough for me to hear.
I poked my head inside and smiled. “You wanted to see me?”
“Ain’t I just tell you to come in?” Blushing, I inched my way further into the office. He nodded at the door. “Close and lock it.”
Heat filled me at his words. Why the hell did he want me to lock the door? He had some kind of hold over me, though, because I happily did as I was told. When I turned around, I stood there, fidgeting with my long-sleeved yellow blouse.
He simply watched me with a hungry gaze.
“Is everything okay?” I finally asked.
Keegan stood. As he walked around his sleek desk, he unbuttoned his white dress shirt. “Nah, it’s not, Doll.”
“What’s wrong?” I asked, my eyes glued to his broad chest that was now partially exposed beneath his thin undershirt.
He grabbed my waist and twirled me around so that my ass pressed against the desk.
“You gave me a taste last night, and it wasn’t nearly enough.”
My eyes widened. “Keegan, we can’t—”
“Who can’t do what, love? I own this mothafucka. Did you forget?”
My pussy, the traitorous bitch, leaked at his words. There was something so sexy about a man who had all his ducks in a row. A man who handled his business. A boss. A fine-ass, strong, sexy-ass boss who looked at me as though I held the key to his happiness.
