“Cam, even though I wasn’t able to get pregnant at the time, I’m still an omega and I’m only nineteen. I was holding out hope that someday I could get away from my pack and find a gay Alpha, or even a beta, who would want to be my mate. I guess that omega chastity thing stuck with me.”
“You were willing to be with a beta?”
Suddenly, it seemed as if no air was left in the room. Maybe he’d known all along and had been pretending to himself, hadn’t been able to face the reality of who he was to Cam and what he wished Cam could be to him. But the most gut-wrenching part, the part that made no sense, was that he didn’t want Cam instead of Brandon. No, he wanted them both.
Sascha held Cam’s gaze. “Yes. Betas are wonderful wolves. I’ve known more betas with good souls and true hearts than any of the other shifter classes.”
Cam seemed as though he might be about to faint. His breathing had elevated, and he was gripping the back of a chair as if it was the only thing keeping him from collapsing.
“You’re so nice, Sascha. But I’m not. I’m not good and true the way you said.” He hiccupped a sob. “I’m a terrible person. You should find someone else to help you with the baby. “I-I’ve been thinking thoughts about you I shouldn’t. What’s worse is that some of them were about Brandon too.” Cam bit his lip as his eyes teared up. “You don’t need some pervert like me around. And trust me, when Brandon gets back? He won’t want me here either.”
“You don’t know that, Cam. Let me talk to him first.” Sascha took a tentative step toward him. “Something’s telling me this is all happening for a reason, that’s it’s supposed to be like this.” He didn’t dare touch him—not without Brandon there too—but he couldn’t stand having so much distance between them. “There’s a reason you were both at the prison, right there in that room, when I was rescued. That you’ve both been helping me.”
Cam shook his head frantically, his eyes wide and glazed over. “No. That’s impossible, it can’t be. And whatever you do, don’t talk to Brandon. He’ll kill me. As in, actually kill me. The last thing he’ll want is for me to stay.”
Sascha held up his hands in a calming gesture. “You need to trust me, Cam. I have a strong vibe about this.”
“Yeah, me too. It’s called the vibe of imminent death doled out by an enraged Alpha.”
Despite having to control his laughter, Sascha didn’t want Cam to be scared. He’d been through enough of that himself and he wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Especially not someone he now knew was meant to be a part of his life.
“Hey, it’s cool, Cam. Don’t worry about it.” Sascha took a step back and he noted how Cam’s shoulders relaxed. “I do need to get started on this cake, though. And didn’t you say you wanted to work on Brandon’s truck?”
Cam shook out his hands. “Truck. Yeah, I should work on Brandon’s truck. Good idea.”
Poor baby.
Sascha watched as Cam made his way to the battered pick-up parked next to the woodshed. He’d talk to Brandon as soon as he could. And maybe his Alpha would be mad, would feel betrayed even if nothing had happened while he was gone. However, it had to be said and something told him Brandon wouldn’t be all that surprised.
Sascha smiled as he gathered together the rest of the cake ingredients. The baby had been kicking a lot more lately. But he or she did most of their kicking whenever Cam was near or he was talking to Brandon on the phone.
Even the baby wanted three daddies.

As Brandon pulled into the driveway of his home, his heart thundered, his excitement at a level he’d forgotten existed. Now that the remaining Yukons had been freed from the tyranny of the last two deltas and they were back under Nic’s watch, he could take some time with his new family. His cheeks ached from smiling so hard. He dared anyone to accuse him of being a grump anymore.
When he reached the open yard in front of his home, he noted that Cam had the hood of his old Ford up and was bent of the engine, rooting around inside it. He couldn’t tell exactly what Cam was doing, but whatever it was, his outstanding ass was flexing in time with the task. Brandon hit the brakes with more force than he’d intended. Right as he came to a stop, Cam abruptly straightened and banged his head on the hood.
Damn. Brandon threw the SUV in park then jumped out of the vehicle, running to make sure Cam was okay. To his surprise, Sascha was doing the same thing, only he’d bolted out of the kitchen door. Brandon gasped the moment he reached Cam, who was attempting to staunch the flow of blood seeping through his fingers from the cut on his head.
“Oh gods, oh no!” Sascha reached them, pawing at Cam’s wrist. “Lemme see.” Sascha regarded Brandon with teary eyes. “Can you help him?”
Sascha went up on his toes to give Brandon a kiss and he happily obliged.
“Of course I can, love.”
Brandon wrapped an arm around Cam’s shoulders and began encouraging him toward the house. However, Cam dug in his heels. Sascha was on the other side of Cam, tugging on his elbow, since Cam had refused to move his hand away from his injury.
“Don’t worry about me guys.” Cam wouldn’t make eye contact with either one of them. “If one of you could grab me a couple paper towels, I should be good.”
Brandon checked Sascha’s reaction and he rolled his eyes, shaking his head. The sense Brandon got was that Cam had been being stubborn about things with Sascha as well.
“That’s enough.” Brandon used his big bad Alpha voice. “You’re coming inside with us right now, Cam. Understand?”
Cam started to nod then winced instead. “Ow. I mean, I understand.”
Brandon went to put his arm around Cam again then froze. What the hell was he doing? And with his omega right there, no less. But before he could pull away, Sascha had looped his arm through Cam’s and was tugging on him again.
