“Or we could go upstairs, and I could make you scream while I eat your pussy?” he countered.

Ava looked up and to the left as if she was thinking, tapping her lip with her index finger. “Um, you drive a hard bargain. We should probably discuss the options in private,” she replied.

Zack gave her no time to change her mind and swept her into his arms and made for the stairs. He wanted his woman, and nobody and nothing was getting in the way of that tonight.

Chapter 23

As the plane touched down at Shobdon Airfield, Will felt his body relax. It had been a harrowing few days and he for one was exhausted, and it wasn’t over yet. Flowers hadn’t talked even though they had found most of the evidence he had needed to clear himself.

The authorities in Colombia had had little choice but to concede he had been set up when they had presented them with the facts. Couple that with the evidence that the four officers who had arrested him had been working for Rojas and he had been home and clear.

There were just a few things niggling him, and he could only get those answers from Flowers. He turned to Aubrey who was rubbing the sleep from her eyes and rubbed her knee. He’d not had any time alone with her since before the raid on Flowers’ safehouse, and he needed to feel her against him again.

Her touch, fuck her very presence, had become essential to keep him grounded. He needed her in a way he had never needed anyone, and it scared the shit out of him.

“Nice sleep?” he asked as she stretched her arms up and yawned.

“Yes, I must have been knackered to have slept through the landing,” she answered as Will tried to tear his eyes from the way her top lifted exposing the silky flesh of her midriff.

“Well, let’s get you home, and you can sleep the whole day away,” he said rubbing her cheeks with his thumb, the lump in his chest heavy with love for this incredible woman.

“Will I see you later?” she asked as they stood, and he handed her the small bag she had left with. The look she gave him was full of uncertainty, and he knew what she felt because he felt it himself. Would it all go back to how it was before now they were home or were they both going to give it their all? He knew what he wanted and when they had settled, he was going to make sure they had that conversation. But not here on the plane in front of everyone.

“I doubt it. I want to be there when Jack questions Flowers again, and that could take all night,” he said as he followed her down the steps of the plane to the tarmac. “I’ll call you tomorrow though,” he said distractedly as he saw her face fall and couldn’t figure out why.

“Will,” Ava said as she wrapped her arms around him, “thank goodness you’re okay.”

Will returned the hug, even though what he really wanted to do was go after Aubrey and find out why she had looked so upset. Ava let him go, and Zack shook his hand, a smile on his face. Daniel and Megan greeted him next as Lizzie stood with Lucy and Jace.

“Can’t believe you stole your own plane,” he said shaking his head.

“Yeah, crazy town huh,” he replied as he looked around and saw Aubrey’s back as she disappeared through the lounge door. Around him couples were embracing, and Lucy was fussing over Jace’s measly bullet wound while he kissed her temple and held her tight against him like he never wanted to let go.

Zin and Celeste were walking hand in hand, her head leaning against his much taller shoulder. Even Roz had arrived with the girls to meet K, both girls chattering a mile a minute as if they hadn’t seen him in months rather than just a few days.

Moving into the lounge as a group he saw that Aubrey was in her sister’s arms and both were crying. Blake, who had been standing beside Madison, came over and shook Alex’s hand.

He desperately wanted to go to Aubrey, but she needed this time with Madison more than she needed him right now, so he decided to give her space.

“Any word from Jack?” Blake asked.

“Yes, he’s meeting us and Flowers at Eidolon. I’m going to go help Drew transport him as soon as Reid arrives with the vehicle.”

“You mean that one?” Blake asked pointing at the large black van that had pulled up alongside the plane.

Everything seemed to happen in slow motion then as Alex yelled ‘No!’ Everyone turned as bullets began to spray the plane where Drew was with Flowers. Another van pulled up and four men in black fatigues jumped out and started firing on the hanger where they stood. All around, men started to push their loved ones down and out of harm’s way.

Will saw Zack push Ava down and cover her with his body and dove towards Aubrey as glass began to shatter around them, pulling her behind a coffee machine. Alex, Blake, Jace, Lucy, and Zin dove into action returning fire as K pushed Katarina and Natalia into Roz behind some chairs before kissing his wife and running for the door. Daniel pushed Megan behind the reception desk with Lizzie, and Will saw him palm his weapon before running towards his teammates.

Will watched in horror as Zack looked at Ava who had tears running down her face as she looked at the man she loved, and with strength he knew he didn’t have, nodded. “Go.”

Will had never seen his boss look so torn but in the end the soldier he was won out. With a final kiss to Ava’s head and a look to him which told him everything he needed to know, he followed his best friend into the hail of bullets as the rest of them tried to provide cover as K and Zack made for the plane that was still under attack.

“Will, we need to help them,” Aubrey said from his left side.

“I know but how?” he asked his mind a blank as he tried to figure it out before two of his best friends were killed.

The sounds of shouting and crying filled his head as he listened to Katarina and Natalia cry. Then it came to him—he had people with gifts in this room, and he needed to use them as a coordinated attack instead of as individuals.
