His body tensed and he was seconds away from going back and rearranging pretty boy’s face when he felt Charlie’s hand tighten on his arm. “Leave it.”
Only the calm demand in her voice relaxed him. “Don’t you worry about my wife, Carter. Better yet, never think about her again.”
He didn’t hear the reply as he swept them through the club, grabbed their coats, and called Titan to bring the car around. He and Reaper had been seconds away from coming in after he’d called about Charlie being missing when he’d seen the stairs to the VIP area and had a hunch she was up there.
Sliding in beside her he closed the door and sighed.
“Everything okay, Bish?”
Looking toward the front he saw Titan watching him in the mirror, his gaze bouncing from him to Charlie. “Yeah, fine but Carter Cavendish is on to us. He cornered Charlie in the VIP section, so he knows we’re coming.”
Titan whistled between his lips and eyed Charlie. “You wanted to punch the guy, didn’t you?”
His words were aimed at Charlie who nodded. “Oh, you have no idea, especially when he denied knowing my sister. That man is as guilty as sin, and I’m going to dance a fucking foxtrot on his grave.”
Bishop’s fingers flexed on her thigh where his hand had landed after they entered the car and she laid her hand over his.
Titan looked at Charlie in the mirror. “You can dance the foxtrot?”
“Charlie can’t dance for shit, but she sure is a trier.”
“Hey, I can dance.”
Bishop side-eyed her. “Baby, what was the first broken bone I ever had?”
She bit her lip and blushed. “Your toe.”
The last of the rage from the evening left him. “And how did I get that broken toe?”
“I stepped on it in my high heels when we were dancing.”
Titan laughed out loud, his cheeks wide as Charlie joined in with her own mirth. “Fine, but I have other talents.”
Bishop pulled her closer, his arms around her as he kissed the top of her head. “Oh, baby, you have so many talents.”
“Get a room you two.”
Bishop smirked at Titan as he dropped them off at the safe house. “I’ll update Bás in the morning.”
“Sure thing. Sleep well. Or not.”
His wink had Bishop raising his middle finger but with no real malice.
Following Charlie inside, he saw her kick off her heels and throw her bag on the little entryway table. Her dress rode higher on her gorgeous thighs, and he wanted nothing more than to bury his head between them and hear her scream his name.
“You’re staring.”
Bishop blinked and shook his head as Charlie moved into the kitchen without even turning toward him. Reaching into the fridge, she took out two sodas and chucked one toward him as she popped open her own. His eyes were glued to her long neck as she drank like she’d just landed at the only oasis in the desert.
“We should let Bás know tonight. He can put Carter under surveillance too.”
“He won’t want to split Reaper and Titan, but we can tell him and see what he says.”
Charlie placed the empty can on the side and let out a tiny burp which made him remember how embarrassed she always got about bodily functions. She was such a contradiction, so open about some things but so closed off about others. “Why are you so embarrassed by burping?”
Charlie blushed as she pushed off the counter and went to walk past him. He caught her wrist and dragged her back so she was in his arms where she belonged. She tensed for just a second before giving him her weight and leaning into his body, her hands on his chest. He wondered if she could feel how his heart rate rose when she touched him.
“Tell me.”
