Her face flushed and I blinked. My Rachel was blushing? She never did that.
“Yeah, I met this guy who’s a tattoo artist and he did it for me for free.”
She seemed evasive and I squinted at her.
“Is he a new beau?”
Rachel had a propensity for the bad boy of tattoo parlors, inked within an inch of spare skin. I didn’t see the attraction. Nate, however, had always wanted a tattoo. I could say with confidence that he didn’t have one anywhere. I knew every inch of his body intimately.
Rachel shrugged. “We’ve been out once. His name is Jackson and he has a place down on Sunset.”
I narrowed my eyes. “Do you think he’ll give me a special price? Nate said he wanted a tattoo and I might surprise him with a visit to the strip to get it.”
Rachel’s eyes brightened. “Oooh, where does he want it and what does he want? Jackson does body piercings too. Maybe a Prince Albert or something for you?”
I shuddered. “Don’t be stupid. No needle is getting anywhere near my dick. It’s far too precious and Nate would die without it.”
“So what is Nate thinking of doing? A dragon? A tiger? Perhaps your name tattooed across his ass?” She snickered.
It was my turn to roll my eyes. “No, none of the above. Although my name on his ass does have a certain appeal.” I lost myself in that thought for a while then came back to my senses and away from a fantasy of licking my tongue across my name on Nate’s delicious rear end.
“He designed one himself. It’s an image of the three conch shells he made, but more surreal. Apparently conch shells symbolize truthful speech and strength. It won’t be a big tattoo. He wants it across his left shoulder blade.”
I was turned on by the thought of Nate and a tattoo. I might not want one myself because I was a hissy-fit baby when it came to pain and I hated needles, but on Nate? The idea was making me grow a chubby. I shifted in my seat.
“Anyway, let me know if this Jackson guy can do me a solid and give me a discount. I might get it for Nate for Christmas.”
Rachel came over and pecked me on the cheek. “You’re such a romantic, Cody Fisher. I think that’s lovely. Now get off and get home to your man. I’ll finish up here and lock up.”
I was only too pleased to get on my way. And getting home to a randy boyfriend was even better.
True to form, when Nate got hold of me, I was kissed, fondled and manhandled into submission. As we both lay gasping on the bed, I stared at him hazily, my brain blown by my most recent orgasm.
“Hell, did you scoff down a whole load of oysters or something? You were on fire tonight.”
Nate chuckled lazily and trailed fingers down my belly. Tendrils of heat emanated from them and I regarded my cock with a certain satisfaction as it stirred once again.
“We’ve both been busy this week, and this,” he waved a hand, “has been lacking. I thought we needed some us time.”
I hummed in pleasure as his hands cupped my balls and moved up to stroke my nipples. “Well, let me tell you, it was worth the wait.”
Nate’s fingers slowed down and I opened one eye to see his eyelids shutting, dark lashes falling against his cheeks.
I grinned. In typical Nate fashion after sex, he’d succumbed to the lure of sleep. I always marveled at the way he seemed to switch off and simply drift away into the land of Nod.
“We’re supposed to go for dinner,” I murmured against his shoulder as I kissed his freckled skin. “How can we do that if you fall asleep?”
“Just a few minutes,” he mumbled, and I sighed.
“Okay. I’m going to catch a quick shower because somebody attacked me like a ravenous beast before I’d even had a chance to say hello.”
His soft chuckle accompanied his smirk as he crunched the pillow under his head.
I got out of bed and went into the bathroom.
An hour and a half later, we were both seated in a small, intimate restaurant down the road, enjoying our first course of lobster with asparagus and lemon butter sauce. The wine was flowing and I’d relaxed enough to broach the moving in subject with him.
“So…” I wiped my mouth with the white napkin, leaving smears of yellow sauce across it. “I have a couple of things to talk to you about. I’m hoping one is excellent news and the other good news.”
