“I’m going to come,” I gasp. “Max, I’m—oh God, I’m going to come—”

“Come for me,” he growls, his hips driving into me harder now, each thrust hitting deep enough to blur my vision. “Come on my cock, little one. Let me feel your pussy clench around me.”

I shatter. The orgasm tears through me so hard my whole body locks, my walls gripping Max’s cock in waves. He groans, the sound low and guttural, and I feel him pulse inside me as he comes, filling me with warmth.

And then his knot starts to swell at the base of his cock, stretching me wider, filling me more completely than I thought possible. I can feel it growing, pressing against my walls, and the pressure is so intense that a second orgasm crashes through me before the first one has ended.

My back arches off the bed and I cry out. Max is shaking above me, his face buried in my neck, his teeth grazing the bonding spot at the curve of my throat.

“Ours,” he growls against my skin as the knot locks us together.

Each pulse of the knot sends another wave of warmth flooding through me, and my body answers every one—clenching, releasing, pulling him deeper, milking his knot.

It’s primal. Ancient. Instinctive.

My omega body responding to him in ways I didn’t know were still possible after everything that was done to me.

“We’ve got you,” Max breathes into the curve of my neck, his voice wrecked. “We’ve got you, little one. We’re right here.”

Finn presses his lips to my temple. Ethan laces his fingers through mine and holds my hand against the pillow. I’m pinned beneath Max, his knot still swollen inside me, locked together, and the sheer intensity of being held and filled and wanted and safe leaves me with a wonder so vast I don’t have words for it.

“Is this okay?” Max lifts his head to look at me, his green eyes soft. “Am I hurting you?”

“No.” My voice comes out breathless, and I’m smiling. “It doesn’t hurt, Max.”

It doesn’t hurt. For the first time, it doesn’t hurt.

He kisses me softly, lingering against my mouth as his knot pulses gently inside me, tying us together. Finn brushes the hair from my face with his thumb. Ethan brings my hand to his mouth and presses his lips to my knuckles.

We stay like that while the knot holds. Max shifts us carefully onto our sides so his weight isn’t on me, his forehead pressed to mine. Finn lies behind me, his chest warm at my back, his arm draped over my waist. Ethan sits against the headboard beside Max, and when I reach for him he takes my hand and presses it to his chest. I can feel his heartbeat through our clasped fingers.

I close my eyes. I feel their warmth surrounding me, and the thought of leaving never comes.

CHAPTER 42

Finn

Iwake up and she’s gone.

For one terrible second, my heart stops. The space beside me is empty, and the panic that floods my chest is instant and irrational and all-consuming.

Then I reach across the sheets and they’re still warm where she was lying, and my heartbeat slows, but not by much.

Max is on his back, one arm thrown over his face, breathing deep and even. Ethan is curled on his side at the far edge of the bed, glasses folded neatly on the nightstand, one hand tucked under his cheek like a kid. I’d tease him about it if I wasn’t so focused on the empty space between us.

I slide out of bed and go to find her.

She’s standing by the window in Ethan’s shirt, the hem falling to mid-thigh, one shoulder sliding off to expose the curve of her neck. She’s holding a glass of water and looking out at the river. The sight of her in the moonlight catches me off guard—the line of her jaw, the dark hair falling loose over her shoulder, the bare feet on the hardwood floor.

She looks so small standing there. So quiet.

“Hi, sweetheart.”

She turns. And when she sees me, she smiles—soft and sleepy—and it hits me right in the center of my chest.

“Hi.” She lifts the glass. “I was thirsty.”

I cross the room and come up behind her, and she leans back into me immediately. Her shoulders settle against my chest like they’ve always belonged there, and I wrap my arms around her and press my face into her hair. Rain and roses, warm from sleep.
