Charlotte - How did you know that?

Charlotte - OMG

Staring back at me on my phone screen is me and Jake in one of those ride photos, our hands are in the air and we’re laughing as we’re flung around on a bobsled. We’re no older than eighteen or nineteen, and what’s crazy is I remember this exact moment, but I don’t remember Jake being there. In fact, there are a lot of memories now that I recall. I remember what happened, but it’s almost hazy. Is it because Jake was in them?

Charlotte - I kind of remember

Charlotte - Just joining the line

Jake - Speak soon have a great day baby

Alyssa queues up with me while Kayla waits with our bags. She says she doesn’t like rides, but she’s been off since we arrived in the park. I wonder what’s up with her.

Once we’re off the ride, we find a shady spot to sit and watch the Halloween parade. I love seeing all the characters in their costumes. Alyssa’s eating a carton of buttery popcorn and Kayla, well, she looks like she’s about to throw up any minute and has gone a deathly shade of green.

“Kay, babe, are you ok?” I shout over to her.

“It’s just the smell of the popcorn; it’s making me feel a bit nauseous. I’ll be ok.”

“But you love this popcorn. Here, have some.” Alyssa thrusts the box in her face, and at a speed I’ve not witnessed from Kayla before, she darts off to the bathroom.

“Should we go follow her?”

“Obviously, now help me up off the ground.” Alyssa pulls me to my feet as we take off after Kayla.

We can instantly tell what stall she’s in by the sounds of retching and heaving. Knocking gently on the door, I call out, “Kayla? It’s us, can we come in?”

The toilet flushes and she opens the door as she wipes her mouth with some tissue.

Alyssa hands her a water bottle and she gently sips as the color starts to come back to her face.

“What’s going on? Is it something you’ve eaten?” I ask, rubbing light circles on her back.

Regaining her composure, she looks at me and Alyssa, eyes glassy. “I think I might be pregnant.”

After a quick pit stop at the pharmacy, we’re back at the villa waiting for Kayla to take the test.

“I can’t do it,” she mutters to herself as she’s pacing around her room.

“Just go and pee on the stick already. No point in worrying about something until you know if it’s actually happening or not,” Alyssa says as she inspects her nails.

“You know she’s right. The longer you drag this out, the worse it’ll be,” I add.

“Ok, you’re right. Of course you’re right. God, why am I freaking out so badly?” Kayla’s hands shake as she picks up the test from the side and closes the bathroom door behind her.

As she comes out of the room, she puts the test on the counter, and we set the timer.

“Are you going to tell Louis?” I ask while we wait.

“No, not until he’s home. I don’t want to distract him. That’s even if there is anything to tell.”

The alarm goes off and we all stare toward the test. “I can’t look. How could the last time me and Louis had sex before that stupid fucking piercing do this?” Kayla says, covering her eyes.
