Counting wasn’t helping but Casimir’s come-hither wink and the way he crooked his finger at me might’ve improved my mood somewhat.
The walk across the street had never been longer, but at least I wasn’t alone. Nearly everyone in the entire neighborhood was standing on their front porches, so they wouldn’t miss a moment of all the fun.
“They’re not even pretending to be subtle any longer.” My dry complaint had Casimir’s grin getting wider. “When did we get new neighbors in that weird red house?”
Casimir rolled his eyes. “Some people should not be allowed to pick out house colors. But that’s a very good question because I thought it was still vacant.”
As we both glanced over at the badly painted house, the guy standing on the porch quickly went inside. He might’ve liked being nosy but he didn’t like being on the other end of the drama. “Squatter? Renter? Something weird?”
“Something weird.” Casimir didn’t hesitate before answering. “We’ll bring over a casserole next week if he’s still there.”
“Giving him time to practice his story or time to move out?” I expected Casimir to laugh, but he aimed his sexy smirk in my direction, killing a few brain cells.
“I’ve already got a very full weekend…so people who don’t matter will have to wait.” Reaching out, Casimir grabbed my tie and pulled me closer until I was barely pressed against him. The silky feel of his shirt killed a few more brain cells, but it was worth it. “Right now, I only have one man who matters to me and I just made that very clear to some assholes who ended up on my porch.”
I should’ve still been pissed but he made it impossible. “What did they want now?”
They’d been too silent lately, so I’d been prepared for drama to pop up eventually.
Casimir shrugged as his fingers stroked my tie. “Probably to find out if they left their IQ around here the last time they visited.”
Laughing was probably wrong but I could only imagine how it would’ve gone if he’d actually said something like that. “I’m sure you were helpful in pointing out it was missing.”
His grin was wicked but my favorite part was the tender kiss he gave me. “You’re sexy as fuck and very smart.”
Agreed…at least to the smart part because somehow I’d found him.
“And you’re sexy and devious.” Giving him a kiss that time, I leaned forward and brushed against him so he could feel how sexy I found him. “You’re also very good at standing up for me, which I appreciate.”
He’d also done an amazing job of helping me stand up for myself, but that was still a work in progress. He knew it too based on the understanding smile that was gone in a flash. “What can I say? Idiotic assholes drive me crazy. If you’re going to fuck with people, do it well. Don’t half-ass shit.”
Casimir was insane.
“If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” My ridiculous response got a serious-looking nod and earned me another kiss. “They’re not putting in enough effort at hiding their stupidity or their bad decisions.”
I must’ve been a genetic throwback from previous generations.
“Agreed, but you’re smart and sexy and put in the best kind of effort, baby.” Him nearly purring out the words sent a shiver through me and got a wicked chuckle from him. “I think we need to finish this conversation inside.”
That sounded like a wonderful plan…and not just because it’d been too many days since we’d enjoyed quality time together. Quickies were fun but they were the fast food of sex and the Taco Bell of BDSM.
“Lead the way.” Sir. “I’m very curious to see what you have in mind.”
His chuckle sent another shiver through me but I was steady enough to step back and follow him inside where we wouldn’t have an audience. And we had an audience. Most of the street was still parked on their porches and a few looked like they’d gone inside to get drinks to enjoy the show.
They needed more normal hobbies.
“I’ve got a few things on my mind.” Casimir’s sexy comeback had my dick trying to decide if he could get hard or if he was supposed to behave. “That suit is one of them.”
I had a feeling he’d like this one.
