Even if my whole body had protested with every stair I’d climbed. All the exhaustion I’d felt previously had vanished without Rami next to me, refusing to let me sleep until the birds were heralding the dawn just outside my window.

Despite the lack of sleep, I felt well rested. That was probably thanks to the two earth shattering orgasms Rami had given me last night. I shouldn’t want him again. I was less than a day out of a relationship. But as my eyes lingered on the breadth of his shoulders, clad in yesterday’s shirt, which we’d washed overnight, I realised I was fighting a losing battle. I’d barely been able to keep my libido under control when wanting Rami was forbidden. Now that it wasn’t?

All bets were off.

“Good morning,” I said, finally alerting Rami to my presence.

He whirled around, spatula still in hand, a massive smile on his face. “You’re awake. Did you sleep well?”

I shrugged a shoulder as I drifted closer to him. “Okay, I guess. How about you?”

“Like a baby.” He turned to check on the eggs. “Are you hungry?”

“Starving,” I admitted, coming to a halt beside him. “Can I help at all?”

“Nope, the eggs are the last bit. Go sit down, and I’ll bring a plate over.”

“I came down at the perfect time.” I slid onto a chair at the table.

“You did.” He flicked the hob off and placed an egg on one plate, then a second on another. “Let me know if anything isn’t to your liking.”

My eyes widened at the sight of the plate he set before me. It was piled high with bacon, sausage, eggs, black pudding, beans, grilled tomatoes and portobello mushrooms, hash browns, and toast. “Rami, you didn’t need to go to all this trouble.”

He smirked as he picked up his own plate and sat down opposite me. “Seems the least I can do to thank you for last night.”

My face heated as I looked down at my plate. “If anything, I think I should be thanking you with a meal, not the other way around.”

“Nah,” Rami said as he cut his bacon with his knife and fork, “definitely not how I see it.”

We were flirting with that line again, and I knew I shouldn’t cross it. Not this soon, anyway. I searched for a safer topic of conversation. “Did they have all this food delivered this morning?”

Rami swallowed his mouthful before responding. “Just the bacon and eggs.”

My brow furrowed. “Where’d the rest of it come from?”

“I googled the nearest supermarket and popped out while you were still asleep. Picked up a few other essentials too.”

I followed his pointing finger and spotted a small pile on the table. From what I could see, there were a few T-shirts, a couple of pairs of joggers, a pack of underwear, and even a hoody.

“I had to guess your size,” he said apologetically. “But we can pop back if none of it fits.”

“Thank you,” I said around the lump that had formed in my throat. “That was really thoughtful and kind of you.”

I took a sip of my tea, willing the butterflies in my stomach to take a break.

“I also got lube.” He smirked dangerously. “So don’t go thanking me for being too altruistic.”

Tea flew from my mouth as his words caused me to inadvertently spit it across the table. Utter mortification rushed through me. I jumped to my feet to grab the kitchen roll. Thankfully, I’d missed both our plates, but that didn’t make me feel much better. “Oh my god, I’m sorry. I can’t believe I just did that.”

A hand came down over mine where I was scrubbing the wood. “Ethan, it’s fine.”

“I’m sorry. I’m so clumsy. It’s just you said about the lube, and I wasn’t expecting it and —”

His hand moved to my mouth, cutting off my words. Warm eyes sparkled down at me as he smiled softly. “Ethan, it was adorable. I should be apologising to you for just dropping that bomb while you were drinking your tea. Honestly, my British passport should be revoked for such poor tea etiquette.”

As easy as that, Rami had me relaxing. When he lowered his hand, I was smiling back at him. “How about you don’t tell anyone about me spitting out the tea, and I won’t tell anyone about you making me spit it out?”

“Deal.” He nodded at my chair. “Now sit down and eat, Harry will be here soon.”
