My gaze fell on the dinner Rami had lovingly prepared. “But maybe we should press pause until we’ve eaten. Your cooking is too good to waste.”
Rami stepped back immediately and pulled a chair out for me with a charming grin. “Your seat, sir.”
I shot him a mock glare as I sat down. “You’re trouble, Rami.”
He was.
He was so much fucking trouble. For my head. My heart. My life.
And you know what?
I couldn’t fucking wait to get into trouble with him.
We didn’t rush through our meal, even knowing what we were likely going to do after. The knowledge heightened our conversations, letting the heat build to almost unbearable levels.
Or maybe it was just that we couldn’t stop talking. I’d never been able to chat with someone the way I could with Rami. He was so easy to open up to that I found myself telling him more about how my dad left us. The grief that had followed after Mum passed. The shame I carried to this day that I hadn’t made it back in time to say goodbye.
Rami listened to everything I had to say. He didn’t just hear me, he listened. Not once did his eyes go to his phone or turn vacant. No, the emotions on his face correlated with whatever story I was telling. The follow-up questions were thoughtful. Supportive. Like he truly wanted to learn more about me.
I was right—Rami was trouble.
The best and most terrifying kind.
Stars were plentiful above us as my words began to fade. It was almost as though I entered a trance-like state where nothing existed except Rami. The acres of chest revealed in the vee of his half-buttoned shirt. How his Adam’s apple bobbed as he sipped his wine. The length of his fingers cradling the glass as he lifted it to his full lips.
Lips I very much wanted to taste again.
I shifted in my seat as heat started to pulse low in my stomach. Rami paused mid-sip before slowly lowering the glass without breaking my gaze.
Neither of us said a word.
We didn’t need to.
I wasn’t sure who moved first, just that there was a loud scraping of chairs on the concrete, then of the table being shoved aside. That was Rami. I wasn’t strong enough to do that.
Fuck, the fact that he couldn’t wait the extra second to walk around the table did something to me. Something I couldn’t get enough of.
We crashed into each other, lips locking together as our hands scrabbled to try and shove clothes out of the way. A button or two pinged off Rami’s shirt before the full expanse of his torso was finally revealed to me. I’d feel bad about that later.
Or not.
Rami, meanwhile, had shoved my shirt up and tweaked one nipple, then the other.
“Oh god,” I moaned as he broke away to kiss down my neck. “So good.”
“It’s going to get better,” he growled against my collarbone. “Best you’ve ever had.”
I clung to his vast shoulders, my eyes rolling back in my head as he sucked a mark into my skin. “You’re already that, Rami.”
His head snapped up. The dilation of his pupils made his eyes appear almost black. Hungry. “Damn fucking right I am.”
The next thing I knew, I was being hauled into the air. My legs went around his waist automatically. “Not gonna lie, you toting me around like this is pretty hot.”
“Good,” he said, nibbling on my neck even as he walked. “Because I have no plans to stop.”
My hands roamed over every inch of him I could reach. I shoved impatiently at his shirt, but with his arms around me, it wouldn’t go anywhere. “Stupid thing.”
“Impatient,” Rami chuckled as he stopped in the big open-plan living room. “I love it.”
