I pause briefly.
“I’m going to ask once,” I say, taking a drag. “If there’s something that needs to be said, then say it.” I let out smoke. “Who knows how this will end.”
This causes Izzy to break down. “Don’t leave, Killian. Let Liliana go home. Put her on the plane, but you stay. Please.”
“I have responsibilities I can’t just drop,” I reply, shooting Mickey a look as a sign for help.
“Izzy,” Mickey starts. “Why don’t you tell Killian what you dreamt?”
My stomach drops. Our mum was a psychic of sorts. Her dreams were like visions of someone’s fate. But you’d have to know how to dissect them for a proper interpretation. I assume out of all her seven children, Izzy has the same or similar talent.
She takes a deep breath. “Before you came, I’d have dreams of you lying in a field of flowers, and then there’d be a fire you’d get caught in. You’d be swallowed whole. Each time, details would become clearer. The flowers weren’t random. They were lilies. The fire would be random, but then it’s started by someone—just can’t see who. Then you came home for mum’s vardo, showed up with a woman named Liliana, and now have a death sentence.” Her eyes water.
“Listen.” I place my hand on her shoulder. “I can’t promise you anything. But I don’t want this weighing on you, understood?”
She nods.
Jodi pokes her head out. “Breakfast is ready. I think I hear Liliana in the shower. Thin walls.” She shoots me a look with an arched brow.
Chapter Forty-Three
Lily
My body aches. Between last night and now, my body is flaring up again. When I step out of the shower, I look at my naked body. My nipples are black and blue. Killian had me in every position my body could bend, touched, licked, and bit every part of my body, but the one thing he never did was kiss me. I thought it was odd. I’ve never had a guy not want to kiss me. When he finally had enough, he removed the collar around my neck. The thought of it still is a punch to the gut.
I get myself together, wearing new clothes that are exactly the same—a T-shirt and leggings—and head downstairs, where the scent of breakfast makes my stomach growl.
“Liliana.” Jodi smiles. “Sit and eat before the boys ravish everything.”
“Smells amazing.” I smile back.
“Do you cook?”
I let out an embarrassed laugh. “Never was really my strong suit. Stasia was the cook when our mom wasn’t able to.”
When my ass hits the chair, a sharp pain radiates through me. Flashbacks of Killian spanking me are making me sweat.
Izzy sits next to me. “Mickey ripped me and JoJo a new one,” she whispers. “How did you make out?”
My cheeks flush. “Killian didn’t hold back either,” I reply.
We all sit at the table, Killian across from me and pretending like nothing happened between us. It’s something I’m used to since I did the same with Alessio. That’s what flings do. The morning goes on nicely, but when it’s time to leave, the weight of sadness hangs over the Boswells. I watch each sibling give Killian a hug, and a lump forms in my throat.
Mickey drives Killian and me to a private area that has one roadway and a small plane.
“Till next time,” Killian says to his brother in an embrace.
“In this life or the next.” Mickey pats Killian’s back.
They pull apart, and Mickey holds his hand out to me. “Nice meeting you, Liliana. Take care of him, will you?”
“Of course,” I lie, knowing Killian and I have no reason to cross paths again once we are back in America.
When Killian and I board the plane, there is a couple already on board.
“Take a seat,” Killian points to one by the window.
“This plane is tiny.”
