I’ve had enough. My heart is racing as I make the confession. “I do think about you like that… I think about you all the fucking time. When I’m with you, I don’t trust myself to look at you because you’ll know exactly how I feel about you, and when you’re on that stage, it kills me to see all those men thinking they could possibly touch you, kiss you, be with you like that.”

I inhale a few breaths and nod. “You’re right; patrolling your social media and DM’s is not part of my job, but I can’t fucking stand it, Melody. I can’t handle the way they talk about you. And yeah, I’m jealous. Fuck yeah, I am.”

She gasps and puts a hand over her heart. “Wait… are you saying… you, uh, m-m-m-ean—”

I scoot over toward her and put my hands on her arms. “It’s okay, take your time.”

She looks at me with wonder on her face, but she doesn’t try to talk again. I know she’s self-conscious about the stutter when it happens, but she shouldn’t be with me.

“I think you’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. I want you, Mel. I’ve wanted you since the day I was hired to protect you.”

She shocks me when she says, “I want you too.”

Melody

“I want you too,” I tell him. “Every night that you’ll give me.”

“All of my nights, Melody. They’re yours. I haven’t looked at another woman, let alone touched one since we met.”

Five years! He hasn’t touched a woman in five years? I mean, yeah, I don’t know when he’d find the time. Even when we’re not on tour, he lives in the same penthouse apartment with me.

I look at his beautiful face, the same one I’ve been looking at for five years. Brown hair, brown eyes, neatly trimmed beard and full lips. Lips that I’ve imagined kissing more times than I can count. The sincerity etched into his features. When I lock eyes with him, the heat reflected back at me warms my entire body.

“I feel like I’m dreaming. I-I-I—” I take a deep breath and push out the air. “I’ve thought of this moment so many times. But nothing in my imagination could compare.”

“You have no idea how many times we’ve shared a hotel suite and I’ve watched you prance around in those tiny shorts of yours just begging to be touched.”

“I do not prance,” I say with a laugh. “But it’s nice to know that you actually notice.”

He picks me up and puts me on his lap, straddling him. “I’ve always noticed.” His fingers curl into my hips as he presses me flush to his body. “I notice everything about you.” He brushes a finger over the shell of my ear, then down to my collarbone. “Like this cluster of freckles right here. I want to play dot-to-dot with my tongue.”

Now we’re chest to chest, and I can feel the distinct hard line of his erection trapped behind his zipper.

I’m not sure where the boldness comes from, but I don’t pause to question it. I simply pull off my tank top and toss it over my shoulder. “Less talking, please.” Then I press my mouth to his.

His mouth slants over mine. Our tongues meet, stroking against each other. I moan. He growls.

Why have we not been doing this the entirety of the last five years? Because holy hell, Hayes can kiss. Not that that is surprising. The man is good at everything.

His hands come up together to cup my breasts, kneading them softly and then pinching my nipples. I arch into his touch.

He breaks our kiss and leans back, staring down at my boobs. His big hands are still on me, his thumbs scraping across my nipples.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wondered what this beauties looked like. Felt like.” He gives me another squeeze. “Your body drives me wild, Mel.” Then he kisses me again.

We make out like this for a while. I’m pretty sure I could come like this, from the combination of him tweaking my nipples and the pressure I’m getting against my clit from rocking myself over his hard-on.

“Look at you, beautiful girl, rubbing that greedy pussy against my hard dick. Do you feel how much I want you?”

“Yes,” I hiss. I don’t even have time to stop and marvel at the fact that I’m grinding myself on Hayes’s lap.

I suck in a breath. Who is this man with the filthy mouth? I’ve seen Hayes in so many different situations. He can be so funny, especially his commentary when we watch ridiculous science fiction monster movies. He can be so sweet and kind, like the times he’s wiped away my tears after a bad review or terrible writing day. He’s always beautiful, heart-stoppingly sexy.

But this beast of a man I’m rocking myself against while his hot chocolate eyes devour my face… he’s a revelation.
