His cheek rubbed against mine in a quick motion to appease me, then he said, “Yes, but I’m not used to this sight. Help her.”

Forcing my eyes not to roll and piss Wolf off, I stepped back and asked him, “Will you join us in the shower?”

“J-Join us?” asked the slave that was getting on my nerves.

I went to explain that touching her was the last thing on my mind, that I wanted Wolf, but he stepped around me and raised his hands in a manner that portrayed he was trying to calm her. “No, neither of us will touch you. We just want you to feel more comfortable. Uh…” He glanced over his shoulder to see me standing close behind him.

I had no attachment to the girl and couldn’t have cared less to know her name, so I looked at her eyes for the first time. They had specks of green, brown, and gold. Gorgeous. “Jewel. Her name is Jewel.”

Wolf looked at her suspiciously. “Is that your name?”

She peered at me.

From behind Wolf, I glared at her with flared nostrils.

Jewel got the hint and nodded to Wolf.

Calmly, he said, “That is a beautiful name. Let me see if I can change the ‘me being naked thing.’” He turned and faced me. “Me, being naked, is making her upset.”

Again, I couldn’t have cared less. Covering him wasn’t going to happen because the sight of his body was too stunning, and I quietly told him, “I have mere days before my world is going to change completely. I can’t screw this up by doing something I have never, ever done in the past.” I begged, “I need you on your best slave behavior until this mayhem takes place and I can get you out of here.”

Wolf nodded with an endearing sympathy that I appreciated. Then he faced Jewel. “Just look at my face to avoid any awkward moments.”

Of course, her eyes immediately drifted down then slammed shut. “S-Sorry.”

“No problem. Take a deep breath.” He waited for her to follow his lead in breathing then asked, “Do you know why you’re here?”

She started crying again. “That guy, the one who…” She shook her head as if lost in a memory.

Wolf’s shoulders caved. “Did he hurt you?”

Jewel wiped at the snot dripping from under her red nose. “H-He forced me to… and told me this was my new life.”

Wolf stepped in to hug her, but she cowered back, so he stopped and said, “I won’t touch you and will do my best to help you.” He thumbed at me behind him. “He will, too.”

“Meh.”

Wolf glared at me from over his shoulder.

This time, I did roll my eyes. “Fine.” I told Jewel, “If you do not wish to be sold to someone who will rape you every day, like my handler did, then you will do everything I ask of you. You will follow my every command. Understood?”

After she nodded, Wolf gawked at me.

I huffed. “I did what you asked.”

Wolf’s smirk gave me hope he would be patient with me. Then he turned to me and whispered, “I’ve been thinking.” He peeked over his shoulder to see if Jewel was listening.

When she realized she wasn’t supposed to be, she closed her eyes and put her hands over her ears and started softly humming. Her vocal cords were trembling, but I appreciated her effort to give us privacy.

Wolf smiled at her, then whispered more to me, “We don’t know what you look like.” My brows scrunched in question. He added, “It was only a voice recording we got from our informant. We didn’t even have the strip joint under surveillance. That is how much we didn’t believe this guy.”

I cupped his face in my palms, needing to taste his lips. After a soft kiss, I asked, “Why are you telling me this?”

He stared at my mouth. “I want to be with you.”

My heart thundered. “But… how?”

Wolf swallowed. “Once I return home, I will resign, due to this experience having pushed me over the edge.” He wrapped his arms around my waist, not affected when his arm grazed the gun in the back of my slacks. “Then I will find you. I’ll call the number burned into my memory—”
