“Oh, thank fuck,” Connor said, and put both hands on Kessrin’s massive dragon head, tears in his eyes, his breath shaking. “Baby, I thought you were dead.”

The eye closed again.

“What the fuck happened? Did you crash?” Connor asked, stroking his hand over Kessrin’s forehead.

When Kessrin didn’t reply, I nudged his belly, and he let out a low growl of disapproval. Was he just pouting? I glanced at the wing, which looked injured, but not in a way that would force a dragon to faint or pass out.

Scoffing at his dramatic tendencies, I transformed, hoping my nude body would tempt his heat. “Get up,” I said.

“Oallian, he’s injured,” Connor said. “He can’t just get up. He clearly crashed.”

“He is fine,” I said. “Look at him. He is entirely fine and he is wallowing.” I knelt beside his head and kissed his forehead.

“That wing does not look fine.”

“Okay, fine, he’s mildly injured and wallowing.”

Kessrin made a low sound that sounded very much like wallowing.

Footsteps thundered to a stop behind us, and I turned to see Leo and Thyren approaching.

“Fuck, thank the gods. He is breathing,” the fae warrior said.

Connor looked up. “What are you guys doing here? Didn’t you just get married, like yesterday?”

“It’s Thyren’s post,” Leo said. “And no one ever explained vacation to Thyren.”

“Abhorrent concept,” Thyren said. “Is Lord Frost okay? He was carrying the mirror at full speed, and it locked into place as he passed over the location, pulling to a dead-stop, which I’m sure he wasn’t expecting.”

Leo nodded gravely. “He crashed straight through the stone wall.”

Kessrin made a grumpy sound.

“Shall we call for a medic for his injuries?” Thyren asked. “Can you shift, Lord Frost?”

Kessrin didn’t move at all. Connor sighed, still stroking his head. “Maybe if you give us some privacy.”

“Maybe if you make sure Kessrin knows you love him so he doesn’t feel sad,” I muttered. Connor shot me a stern look, and I wiggled a little. “Look how sexy he is when he’s stern,” I whispered to Leo, who had his head tilted and his eyes focused on my dick.

“We’ll give you a moment,” Thyren said suddenly, dragging Leo off.

“Come get us if you need us,” Leo called over his shoulder. “Hope you’re okay, Lord Frost!”

“Okay, they’re gone, time to stop wallowing and make yourself human!” I said.

Kessrin opened his eye, and narrowed it at me.

Connor snorted, gently stroking Kessrin’s big dragon head. “Maybe be gentle with him.”

“Wallowing does not require gentleness! It requires him to snap out of it. And it might require you to say some romantic words to fortify his resolve.”

“Fortify his resolve,” Connor said. “Right.” He leaned in and kissed Kessrin’s forehead. “You okay, baby? Maybe you could shift, and we can talk. Does the wing hurt too much for you to shift? It’s okay if you can’t shift, you can just rest another moment if you need to gather your strength for the shift.”

Kessrin looked mortally offended for a beat before he shifted.

It was the tidiest thing in the world when he did it. The whole vast weight of him folded down and in and there was a man kneeling in the grass where a mountain had been. He let out a soft whimper, stumbling as he tried to stand, and Connor and I rushed to his side.

“Did the injury carry through the shift?” I asked, worried.
