The gem is nearly as beautiful as her eyes, but not quite.

Nothing will ever compare to the woman before me, not all the money and gems in the world.

“Will you make us whole and be our wife?”

I hear her breath catch, and I know she caught what I just asked.

Not my wife, ours.

She’s nodding before she can utter a word, tears running down her face in earnest now, and when she finally pulls her hand away from her mouth to answer, it’s hardly more than a whispered sob, but it’s a yes, and that’s all that matters.

I slide the ring onto her finger as she continues to cry and clapping rings out around us.

If she hadn’t realized our audience before, she sure as hell will now.

I push to stand, leaning into her space and pressing my lips to hers, unable to wait another moment.

She said yes.

Wrapping my arms around her, I pull her close as I stand, our lips still locked together. I taste her salty tears, mixing with her naturally sweet flavor; it’s intoxicating.

After a few moments, I force myself to pull back. I’d love nothing more than to ravage her, but I can feel the eyes on us, and something tells me Kat is going to be embarrassed enough as is.

Pulling her close, I press a kiss to her forehead, linger for a moment, then pull back and look down at her.

“My Queen.”

“You and this damn tree. Somehow I’m always hard when you’re involved,” Vince grumbles, making Kat’s eyes once again go wide.

“Shit, who needs the tree?” Alex says back, and Kat looks mortified as she buries her face in my chest.

“Oh my god, please stop,” she pleads, and I can’t help but chuckle; she’s so easy to rile up.

We move back through security to the chalet. We don’t get to go back in, though, before Oliver steps up beside Kat and tangles his fingers with hers.

“I need to steal her so that we can go and get set up,” he says, and I look around, curious if any of them has any idea what he’s talking about.

“Set up for what?” Desmond asks, looking between them.

“It’s a surprise.” Kat’s smile is both shy and excited, and while I feel the urge to push for a real answer, I resist.

I don’t want to risk ruining her excitement, and seeing her with Oliver like this is refreshing too.

I’d noticed they seemed closer lately, touching and kissing more, though if it's beyond that, I have yet to see.

“Drive safe,” Vince says, giving Oliver a pointed look as he presses a kiss to the top of Kat’s head.

We all kiss her and say our goodbyes, Addison and Nico getting much more than the rest of us before Oliver takes her through the crowd and down to his car.

Now it makes sense why he insisted on driving his own car.

“Any idea what that was about?” Alex asks as we stand watching them go.

“None, but I can’t say my curiosity isn’t piqued.”

His chuckle lets me know he’s on the same page at least. Turning back to the chalet, I watch Addison yawn as she eats a few bites of dip.

With any luck, we won’t be too far behind them.
