“No. No, don’t you fucking think that.”

The cold terror came fast, crawling up my spine until I couldn’t feel my hands anymore.

“Sienna!” My voice exploded through the cell, bouncing off the concrete walls. “Sienna!”

I hammered the button again.

Nothing.

“Come on!”

My twin tore the phone from my hands. “You’re getting blood all over it.”

“I don’t give a damn about the fucking phone!”

He shoved the button with his thumb.

The connection finally clicked.

My whole body went rigid as I leaned toward the speaker, afraid of what I might hear.

“Blondie,” I called, my mouth almost against the speaker. My voice came out strangled.

Silence.

My heart slammed against my ribs. I swallowed, fighting the panic clawing its way into my throat.

“Sienna, baby, can you hear me?”

My words barely made it out. I pressed my palms against my eyes for half a second, then looked back at the screen.

My twin’s hand closed around my shoulder.

I barely felt it.

“Please, Sienna. Open your eyes,” I whispered, staring at her motionless figure. “I’m coming home. Just listen to my voice.”

I stared at the screen like I could drag her back to me through it.

“Just give me something.”

Anything.

She blinked her eyes and mumbled something that sounded like my name.

“That’s right. It’s your Ty.”

My heart hammered, probably bruising my ribs, while fear held a grip on my throat.

She blinked again, then closed her eyes. I thought I saw her lips move, but I couldn’t hear anything.

I leaned closer to the screen. “Say that again, blondie.”

“Just need sleep. No nightmares.”

“How many pills did you take?”

She didn’t answer, and it didn’t take long for my mind to spiral.
