“If I catch you whoring around, posting those silly dance videos online again, Fleur goes in the grave.”

‘Whoring around’ is particularly funny. I make sure to edit a clip of me performing a complex trick while he says that.

I glance at Fleur and Felix, relief swimming through me. They could have died tonight. My father is no better than the man sitting across from me. In a lot of ways, he’s worse.

I navigate over to my page—time to upload. My page lags with likes and comments from my previous videos. The reception is mixed, people are either supportive, or are spamming my videos with hate.

But I look up and realize I have the world right here. The two most important people in my life are alive and healthy, and I feel like the luckiest person in the world.

That small, inner voice freaks out when I go to hit post. There’s still time to make amends, still time for my father to come around. But I’m wasting my own life, putting my own desires on hold.

And I’m done.

I start how I mean to go on, and hit post, switching the phone off straight away. I’ll look later. Or maybe never.

“Did you do it?” asks Fleur.

I nod.

“Holy shit.”

“Saskia,” says Felix, rising from the couch. “May I have a word.”

“Um, sure.” I follow him out of the room, through the lobby and upstairs into his bedroom.

I pause on the threshold, admiring Felix from a distance as he unbuttons the bloodied shirt, tugging it over his head. Muscles flex in his back, and I stand in the doorway like a hopeless virgin, right back to square one. I thought I knew this man, but I don’t know him at all.

And yet, ineradicable desire sweeps through my entire body, my pussy burning for the man who saved me tonight.

“You didn’t close your eyes,” he states, working his jaw.

“No.”

Felix sighs, turning around to face me. “What I did back there—”

“How can you do that? Kill a man and not think twice about it?”

“Because I’m too passionate. I’ll never be able to control myself around you, Honeysuckle. I’ll move mountains to save you. I’ll destroy myself and the Bratva to keep you safe.”

My heart skips a beat. “Why?”

“Because,” says Felix, moving closer. “You deserve volya (absolute freedom) more than anyone else in this world. Certainly, a lot more than me.” His starburst eyes glint in the light “My love for you is undying, and it will outlive us all. Even the baby.” He glances at my stomach. “Entire generations will have come to pass, and my love for you will still be the same.” He hooks his finger under my chin. “If you feel the same, I’d like to spend the rest of my life by your side, showing you how much love I have to give. Time is limited. I’ve spent too many years trying to survive. But I don’t want that anymore, sweetheart. I want to water my Honeysuckle and watch her grow.”

My heart flips, and as I stare into his warm gaze, I know he means every word.

I know how it feels to fall into the void, and I know how it feels to fly. Felix is the one who gave me wings and taught me how to fly.

“What you said to the press…”

“I understand you may find it hard to believe, sweetheart, but there’s a lot of truth in the world. Some people speak from the heart.” He snakes his arm around my neck. “And I meant every word, about the baby, the marriage…” He searches my eyes. “If you feel the same.”

Is this him begging me?

I kiss him on the lips, which is hard to do while smiling.

Felix inserts his tongue into my mouth, dominating the kiss. I run my hand up his cheek, feeling the dried blood. He was willing to destroy himself for me, and that is something I will never be able to fully comprehend.

A message pings through on Felix’s phone. He tenses up, breaking the kiss.
