“And what do you gain from this?” asks Gabriel as I climb out of the vehicle.

I acknowledge the doorman with a nod. “Satisfaction.”

“Bullshit,” snaps Gabriel. “You’re on a slippery slope, making the same mistakes as your father. The attention is diverted for the time being, but that doesn’t mean the Bratva is safe.”

“The Bratva is never safe.”

“And you have the same genes as your father.”

“Thank you,” I side-note to the doorman as he welcomes me into the foyer. “I have been leading by example for many years. I know what I’m doing.”

“Hm,” grunts Gabriel, ending the call unconvinced.

I head up to my suite, opening the door to find Saskia wearing basically nothing. She’s practicing yoga on the floor, extending into some kind of complicated move that requires a lot of concentration.

She breathes deeply, my cock awakening in my pants as I stare at her chest, her breasts sitting perfectly in a black lace bra. She has panties to match.

“What are you doing?”

“What does it look like?” she quips, glancing over her shoulder. “Stretching.”

“In underwear.”

“Yeah, well, the intercom is fucked. I can’t turn it off.”

That was an issue I was supposed to raise to the governing body but didn’t. There were more important places I needed to be—here.

“Good day?” she asks, holding conversation while stretching into an elevated split.

“Why don’t you tell me. Have you switched on your phone?”

Saskia exits the yoga position, turning around to face me. Her eyes are wide, a smile crawling onto her face, causing her cheeks to fill out and the love-heart-shaped mole to lift.

Her smile is infectious. Seeing her happy uplifts some forgotten part of me, like she’s teaching me how to love—a concept I never knew much about.

Saskia picks herself up from the floor, sauntering over. Hair falls around her shoulders, the color of milk chocolate, her skin pale, like the moon.

“Your little stunt was genius,” she says.

“For now,” I say, shutting other thoughts away. My executive certainly has some ideas about how we can use this story as a business model.

I’m not like Vesper, but I might be like my father…

“We’ll make tracks tonight on the red eye.”

“Already?” Saskia furls her lip. “I was hoping to check out the London Eye, perhaps do some shopping in Carnaby Street afterward.”

“That’s back up on the north side of the river.”

“So?” Saskia bats her long lashes at me. “I’ve never been abroad before. At least let me do some sightseeing before we leave.”

My chest tenses. All that money and Vesper never bothered to take his daughters on a vacation.

I stare into her golden eyes. The pleading look in her eye knocks me back. She’s still the same girl, looking up to a man for permission, hoping he’ll let her have what she wants.

There’s no limit to what Saskia can have. Her amber eyes set my soul on fire, and I never thought I had much of one left. She’s proof that I’m just as human as my father, giving into sweet things.

I’ll give in and rule in the same breath. I’ll bring Saskia to my Halloween-themed launch event in the city. I’ll make Vesper tremble. I’ll make sure he knows that I know everything.
