“What do you think?” Killian throws back. “Da found out about the shooting.”

Of course, he did.

He knew, and he didn’t call.

“And?”

“And he’s furious,” Rian answers calmly. “Which means we’re furious.”

Killian begins to pace my kitchen. “This is why I said this whole thing with the Russians was gonna blow up eventually.”

I fold my arms. “Nothing blew up.”

“A bullet went through your car.”

Rian ignores us both. “You’re done.”

I blink at him. “Excuse me?”

“No more digging around the Volkov operation. No more trying to get information. Da’s pulling you out.”

My chest tightens. “No.”

He cocks a brow. “No?”

“I’m not being pulled out.”

Rian studies me carefully, his voice lowering. “Cady, someone sent you a message.”

“I’m fine.”

Killian grunts. “I think this whole thing is getting messy. I don’t like it. You need to leave it alone.”

“It’s already messy,” Rian says. “And dangerous.”

I know what happens when things become inconvenient for my family.

I become inconvenient too.

Killian glances toward the hallway. “Can we talk somewhere he can’t hear us?”

I lead them into my bedroom and shut the door behind us. Rian’s attention shifts back toward me. “Are you sleeping with him?”

I stare at him. “What?”

“Misha,” he clarifies.

Killian points toward the hallway. “I’m going to kill him.”

“Oh, my God.”

“I’m serious,” Killian continues. “Because if you’re emotionally involved, this becomes a completely different problem.”

“I’m not emotionally involved.”

“Then it should be easy for you to dump the bitch and come home.”

“Killian.”
