I don’t give it to her immediately. I stay completely still inside her, letting her feel every inch of the restraint holding her back. Her thighs are shaking against my flanks, her knees trembling where they rest against the mattress. The defiance that lit her dark eyes on the highway, in the church, and when we first stepped into this room is entirely gone and has melted into pure need.
She arches her back, trying to force friction between us, but I hold her hips pinned flat to the bed. Her skin is flushed a deep pink, slick with sweat and marked by the dark bruises of the crash. A single tear of frustration leaks from the corner of her eye, slipping past her temple into her dark hair.
“Look at what you’re doing,” I murmur, lowering myself until my chest presses flat against hers, trapping her beneath my weight. “Look at how pretty you look when you break for me.”
She bites her lower lip so hard I see a flash of pale white where her teeth sink into the soft skin. “Malachi... I’m dying. Please...”
Her voice rasps, raw from screaming in the crash and begging in my bed. Her fingers claw into the muscles of my back, her nails dragging down my skin, leaving sharp red tracks behind. Inside, her body twitches around me, a tight, desperate pulsing that tries to pull me deeper into her heat.
She is completely unraveled. The sharp, untouchable Jade Moretti is shattered across my sheets, reduced to whimpering my name in the dark.
“Good girl,” I whisper against her ear.
I pull out almost entirely, letting her feel the agonizing loss of pressure, then drive back in with one hard, unrelenting stroke. And that’s all it takes to make her snap.
Her eyes roll back, her spine bowing off the mattress. A shattered, guttural scream rips from her throat, echoing off the walls of the quiet bedroom. The muscles of her body clamp down on me like a vise, convulsing in rhythmic waves that roll from her hips straight through her chest.
She pulls me down to her, her mouth finds mine and she pours every bit of her release straight into my lungs. Watching her break under my hands, feeling the absolute surrender of her body taking everything I give her, burns through the last thread of my own control.
I bury my face in the crook of her neck as I drive into her two more times, hard and deep, meeting the rhythm of her contractions, until I come inside of her with a low, ragged growl, my fingers digging into her hips, anchoring her to me as I pour every ounce of my claim into her body.
Her inner walls flutter around me, taking every drop, holding me tight.
When it’s over, the room is completely silent except for the heavy sound of our breathing and I pull the thick duvet up over her shoulders. I wrap my arm around her waist, pulling her back tight against my chest, making sure she is surrounded by my heat.
She doesn’t argue about the guest room down the hall anymore. She just closes her eyes and lets me hold her until we both fall asleep.
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
Malachi
Jade’s mine.
I lie still on my back, listening to the quiet, steady rhythm of Jade’s breathing. Her head rests against my chest, her dark hair scattered over my shoulder. One of her legs is hooked over mine, her knee heavy against my thigh.
My left hand sits flat on her waist, the thick silver ring on my finger matching the smooth gold band on her own hand.
Under the dim light, the dark purple bruises along her ribs look worse than they did last night, red scratches lining her shoulder. My chest tightens, the quiet rage from yesterday settling back into my jaw and the desire to go out and track Nolan down returns.
My phone buzzing on the nightstand snaps me back from my thoughts and I reach over without shifting her weight, picking up the device. There’s a text from Zeke on the screen.
The interrogation room at Eden. We have the driver from the pickup truck.
Followed by another message immediately.
Alive.
I set the phone down, a sigh escaping me.
Jade stirs against me, already awake. Her long dark lashes flutter open, her dark eyes unfocused for a second before they clear, locking onto mine. Her lips curve into a smile as she slides her hand up my chest, her fingers brushing the ring on my hand.
“Your brothers?” She asks in a sleepy voice.
“Yeah,” I nod. “They got one of the bastards who blocked the escort car. He’s at Eden.”
I throw the blanket back and sit up on the edge of the mattress, surprised by the sudden need overwhelming me once I don’t feel Jade’s body on mine.
“I’m coming with you,” she sits up immediately, pulling the sheet over her chest. The small scratches on her jaw are dark red in the morning light.
