Irritation bristles inside of me, but I trust him.
I breeze by him in the hallway, pinching his firm ass just for the hell of it.
He barks out a surprised laugh before shaking his head.
What?
I'm a brat.
I search through my closet because honestly, I don't know if Harry's shopper did buy me tennis shoes and that's embarrassing. But I find a pair of bright white Adidas tennies.
Assuming we're going to do something athletic, I slip into a t-shirt and a pair of athletic shorts that make my ass and legs look fantastic.
I hurry back into the living room where Harrison slaps a baseball hat on top of my head.
"We're going out?" I ask, both eager and confused.
Going to the bank and the tattoo shop were dangerous enough. This feels like we're tempting fate. The more times we go out the more chance I have at being recognized and the sooner Athena will come screeching back into my life. And I like the peace that being with Harrison has given me. I'm not ready to give that up.
"You'll be safe."
It's irritating how he knows what I'm thinking. Irritating and thrilling, because he makes me feel not so alone in this world. Like he knows me so much he knows my next three thoughts.
I adjust the baseball cap and slide my hair through the back opening, creating a sort of ponytail.
He leads me down the elevator, and I pester him the entire way for info - where we're going, what we're doing, how long it'll take, will anyone else be there?
The entire time, he ignores me. So I repeat the questions, enjoying the small tick in the muscle of his jaw.
He ushers me into the back seat of his Range Rover, where the tinted windows will protect me from anyone who happens to peek inside.
The drive is quick. He pulls into a parking garage only three blocks from his house. I'm even more confused as he steadily climbs the levels until we break out onto the top level.
He puts the car in park in the first slot before getting out and opening the back door for me.
Stunned doesn't even begin to explain what I'm feeling at the moment. A hundred yards away is a bike, leaning on its kickstand, with a pink helmet resting on the handlebars. Next to that is a low net.
A man stands next to the net, but walks over to Harrison, shaking the man's hand.
Harrison slips him a few bills.
"Thanks for setting all this up, Joe."
"My pleasure," he replies to Harrison before leaning toward me. "Enjoy," he offers before walking down the tunnel and disappearing.
"What is all of this?"
I have a feeling I already know, but I need to hear it out loud.
"We're checking off your list."
"You rented out a parking garage?"
"Just the top two floors."
God, I've cried more in the past few weeks than I have in my entire life.
This man.
