I can’t help but be proud of him.

“At first,” the Dean continues. “We wondered how something of that magnitude could have happened. But then one of your teammates posted this video. Here, let’s watch it on my tablet for a better viewing experience than on a phone screen.”

Dean Fletcher turns the screen of his tablet to face us and pressed play.

I know exactly what we’re about to see, but it still hits me hard. On a bigger screen, the impact is definitely on a different level.

The first frame shows the light coming on in the hallway on the top floor of Gamma House.

Jayden is filming in front of him, and his voice is the first we hear. “What the fuck is going on?” he yawns, briefly turning the camera to face him. He scratches his head; his blond hair is sticking in every direction. “The carpet in my room is sopping wet, and here it seems to be even worse.”

When he takes a couple of steps, water splashes around his ankles.

One of the doors in the hallway opens, and Vaughn looks outside from his room, blinking a few times to adjust his eyes to the light. “Jay? Why is there water all over my floor?”

“Fuck if I know,” Jayden replies with another yawn. “But it’s cold, and the floor feels wetter toward the left side of the hallway.”

As Vaughn joins Jayden in the hallway, Davis and Nigel come from the second floor.

“Dude,” Nigel scratches his junk in full view of the camera. “What’s going on? It’s raining in my room.”

“And in mine.” Davis backs him.

“Raining?” Vaughn asks. “It isn’t raining outside, and the ceiling is dry.”

Nigel looks up. “Not in my room. There’s a drip from the ceiling; it’s all wet. That’s what woke me up. It was raining on me.”

My bedroom door opens, and I watch my own sleepy face. “Can’t you keep whatever this is downstairs? People are trying to sleep. And why is the floor all wet?”

Talia appears at my side, beautiful in one of my old t-shirts. “So the floor isn’t wet just in your room?”

Vaughn comes back from walking the length of the hallway. “It gets slightly better over there.” He points to the opposite end from our rooms. “I think it’s coming from the presidential suite.”

“What in the ever loving fuck is Tucker up to?” I ask no one in particular. “Tucker! Dude, what are you doing in there?” I knock on his door, but there’s no answer.

“My brother sleeps like the dead.” Talia comments.

There is water coming from the gap under his door. “Yeah, I don’t care if I wake the entire campus. He has to wake up; the water is coming from his room.”

“Tucker isn’t in there, Cap,” Vaughn offers. “He was helping Taryn move her stuff out of the off-campus apartment she was renting with Jodie. Remember? Taryn just got the keys to her on campus staff quarters now that she joined the athletic department medical team.”

My on video version pulls on the door handle. “The door is locked.”

“That shouldn’t be a problem,” Vaughn offers. “As president, Tucker has a master key that opens every door in this house. And since Baety is worse than a magpie and kept stealing it, he asked me to keep it safe for him. Be right back, it’s in my room.”

We wait as Vaughn runs to his room to come out a few moments later with a golden key in his hand.

“Thank fuck you didn’t go out too tonight.” I sigh.

“Vice President Vaughn Heston, at your service.” Vaughn winks at Talia, and I watch my fists clench on video.

“Quit flirting with my girlfriend, asshat,” I roll my eyes. “And open that fucking door.”

We watch what we all know is about to happen.

The second Vaughn opens Tucker’s bedroom door, a legit river washes over our feet and flows out into the hallway.

“Everything in your room was drenched in water, Mr. Prescott.” Dean Fletcher’s tone is accusatory as he pauses the video. “And I’m sure you’ve seen the rest of this?”
