Macklin and Becks love me.
That’s the wonderful part. The rest is scary, to say the least.
“What’s up, baby?” Macklin notices the way I’m tormenting my bottom lip with my teeth. He’s always so perceptive.
“I don’t know.” I exhale wearily. “I still need to figure out where to live, and then there’s the whole mess with Victor. And to top it all off, I have no idea how I am ever going to be able to choose between the two of you?”
Becks pulls my hand into his. “You had a long, trying day, pretty girl. We don’t need to answer every question tonight. But, like I said before, you can move in with me and Mack.”
I begin shaking my head. “But the rent of this place is way out of my price range.”
“Our father paid rent for the whole year. We don’t need you to pitch in.” Macklin says.
“No. I can’t stay here without paying my way. I’m not a freeloader.”
Becks squeezes my hand. “We’re back to that old problem, huh? Remember? We discussed it on our first date. As your boyfriend, it’s my job to do nice things for you and to help you if you need it.”
“Yeah, I get it. But letting me live here rent free is beyond doing something nice for me.”
“I’m sorry, baby, but I have to agree with Becks here. If the roles were reversed, would you not offer me and Becks a place to stay?”
I roll my eyes. “You know very well that I would. But—”
“But nothing.” His tone brooks no argument. “We’re equals here. We aren’t offering anything you wouldn’t offer us if the situation were reversed. End of story. And if you still feel like you need to contribute something, Becks and I both miss our mom’s cooking. We won’t get mad at you if you wanted to use the state-of-the-art kitchen appliances in this apartment and whip up one of those spectacular lasagnes you used to bring to the Gamma House for Tucker.”
“Or a batch of those brownies.” Becks adds.
I look at my two handsome boyfriends. No one has any business looking this hot with bed hair and in a t-shirt and sweatpants. “Ok. I guess you have a point.”
“Besides,” Macklin adds. “Living with us will help you get to know us better. And give you more information to help you choose.”
Becks nods. “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Mack is right.”
“I’ll drive you to see Sam and get your stuff tomorrow morning after practice.” Macklin continues. “But it’s late now. We should all get some sleep.”
Hearing him mention sleep makes me realize how exhausted I am. “Yeah, I’m beat.” I yawn.
Becks rises from the couch. “Yeah, let’s go to sleep. Coach is working us harder than ever in the morning. Talia, let me go grab a pillow and some bedding. I’ll stay on the couch. You can take my bed.”
“The couch? Why would you be sleeping on the couch?”
Becks rubs the back of his neck. “Because I don’t want you to think that letting you stay here is transactional.”
It’s very sweet of him to worry about that. “Maybe I could have thought it was transactional if we hadn’t slept together yet. But you’re my boyfriends, right?”
They both nod.
“Then I don’t see a problem sharing a bed. Unless you feel like I’d be taking advantage of you by sleeping in your bed and expecting sexual favors?”
They hear the barely repressed laughter in my voice.
“Fuck, no.” Macklin chuckles. “You can take advantage of me any time you want, baby.”
“Me too.” Becks rushes to agree. “I was just trying to make sure you knew that I want you to stay here for you, not as a quid pro quo.” He offers me his hand.
I’m about to take it when Macklin gets up too and mirrors his brother’s gesture. “Or you could sleep in my room. You know how much I love sleeping with you in my arms.”
“Hey,” Becks glares at him. “I offered first.”
