“Hey, baby,” Mack is still lying on his side, watching us intently. “If you’re going to ride Becks, why don’t you try that thing we perfected together?”
Her eyes brighten. “You’re right. How could I forget? I’ve been dying to do it with Becks.”
Ugh. Dating the same girl is strange, and I wish it came with an instruction booklet. How is it possible that I wasn’t jealous when Mack’s dick was in Talia’s mouth, but hearing that they have some kind of secret makes me want to kick him in the nuts?
“What is it, pretty girl?” I struggle to hide my chagrin.
“I asked Macklin to help me try reverse cowgirl so I could impress you.”
“You did?”
My brother explains. “That was part of our deal. We would fake date until Gen got the message that she and I were over and until Talia got your attention. In the meantime, I would help Talia be more confident in bed and teach her everything she wanted to learn.”
“How nice of you,” I roll my eyes, unable to hide the sarcasm in my voice. “What a hard bargain. I bet you loved that.”
“Actually,” Talia comes to his defense. “I asked him to help me with that.”
“You did?”
Talia nods. “I’ve been around hockey players my whole life. I know how popular you guys are with women. And I was worried you’d get bored really quickly with a twenty-two-year-old virgin.”
“What?” I growl, tightening my hold on her hips and glaring at my brother. “You took her virginity?”
Again, Talia defends him. “I asked him to. I didn’t want it to be a disaster with you. I liked you so much, I knew I would be too nervous.”
“And you weren’t nervous with him?”
She torments her bottom lip with her teeth as she thinks about it. “I was. But he already knew I didn’t know what I was doing.”
“Ok.” I bite out.
“Becks,” Talia’s eyes are pleading. “You have to remember that I didn’t know if you liked me. That’s why I made that deal with Macklin. That, and I had always wanted to be with him.”
I hate that it makes sense. “I just hope he gave you a good first time.” I grumble.
“It was perfect.” Talia says softly, “Macklin was gentle, hot, romantic, and he made me feel comfortable. I couldn’t have wished for a better first time.”
That changes everything. The furious jealousy of a second ago evaporates like snow under the summer sun. “Good. I’m glad Mack did right by you.”
It’s his turn to get irked. “Why wouldn’t I? I was getting to have sex with the woman I loved. There was no way I wasn’t going to take care of her.”
“You always do, Macklin.” She soothes him.
His gaze softens when he looks at her. “You do the same for me, baby. With you, I don’t feel like I’m playing a part. The hockey star, the social media personality, the bad boy. You’re with me for me, not for all those fake personas the outside world wants me to be.”
There’s no need to ask him who made him feel like he had to be a brand rather than a person. Gen wants to marry a hockey star, someone who will help her grow her following and launch her career. When her attempts to turn Mack into the stepping stone to her social media and reality TV career, she started looking at me. But I’m not as stupid as she thinks I am.
Like Mack, I want to be with someone who loves me for me, not for the lifestyle I can provide.
“I understand.” I say, sitting up to close the distance between me and Talia’s lips. She’s still straddling my hips and I’m still dying to be inside her. “I feel the same way. Talia is perfect for me.”
That’s the trouble. She’s perfect for both of us. And there’s no way this whole thing isn’t going to leave me or my brother completely crushed when she makes a choice between us.
But she won’t decide tonight. I have time to get her to see that we’re made for each other. Right now my needs are way more basic. “Reverse cowgirl, huh?” I murmur after kissing her deep and hard.
She nods. “I think I got quite good at it. Do you want to try it?”
“I’m all yours. We can try whatever you want, pretty girl.”
