“That’s a Ferrara yacht,” Francesca whispers. “Six passengers and eight crew were all murdered.”

My eyes widen. “Carlo did this?”

“That’s what they think.”

My stomach turns. “He killed them all…even the innocent tourists.”

“You know he has no regard for life. That’s not even the worst of it,” she whispers.

“What’s the worst of it?”

“The captain was decapitated.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

“What?” I snap. “Decapitated?”

“I know.”

I blink, completely gobsmacked.

“Who the hell cuts off someone’s head?” I stammer. “Did they personally know the captain, was it a vendetta or something?”

“I don’t know,” she whispers. “But apparently the scene is straight out of a horror movie, the entire scene was covered in blood. The yacht is white and the deck is all light wood. Fourteen people murdered, can you even imagine the amount of blood and carnage?”

My hand goes over my mouth as I get a vivid image of what she’s describing. “Oh my God,” I whisper.

“What if the person was decapitated while the others were still alive and they all saw it?”

“How terrifying.” I close my eyes. “I can’t imagine.”

We both hang on the line, shocked to silence.

“And they actually believe that Carlo is capable of this?” I ask.

“They know he is.”

“How?”

“What do you think he used to do when he worked for them?”

“They do this sort of thing?” I squeak, horrified. “Often?”

“I don’t know,” she whispers. “Keep your voice down.”

“How can I keep my voice down when you’ve just told me that my ex-boyfriend and Valentino decapitate people on the regular.”

“I didn’t say that,” she fires back. “I’m saying that they know he’s capable.”

“My God.”

“Francesca,” Giuliano calls in the background.

“I’ve got to go,” she whispers.

“Okay.”

“Don’t say I told you anything.”
