He gives a subtle shake of his head and pinches the bridge of his nose. “Anna, are you taking in anything of your surroundings at the moment or do you live in a magical make-believe land?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I snap.
“You are here and staying with me for protection. From him, Anna.” He stands and walks toward me.
“You honestly believe he’d hurt me?”
“I know for certain he would.” He grabs the door and gestures for me to leave through it. “Now if you don’t mind I have work to do.”
“Why are you angry with me?”
“I’m not angry with you. What I am is frustrated with this situation. It’s beyond me how you know everything that Carlo has done and yet time after time, you keep doubting what we’re all telling you.” He gestures again to the hallway. “Why on earth would we make this up?” He opens the door wider.
“You’re kicking me out of your office?”
“Yes.” He gestures out the door again. “If you want to defend him you can do it from your place.”
“I’m not defending him.”
“Are you sure about that, Anna?”
“I asked you if he was really that bad.”
“He’s worse,” he fires back, “Now if you don’t mind, I have work to finish.”
“Maybe I’m not ready to leave yet.” I put my hands onto my hips. “Did you think about that?”
He rolls his eyes and goes back to sit behind his desk. “I don’t have the fucking energy to fight with you tonight, Anna.” He turns back to his computer.
Hmm….
I sit down in the chair at his desk and watch him for a moment, eventually he looks up at me and widens his eyes in question. “What?”
“Just watching you work.” I twist my lips as I continue looking around. “It’s not every day I get to watch a hot guy working.”
“I would like to think that you are not looking for hot guys working,” he mutters dryly as he turns back to his computer. “Ever.”
I giggle and cross my legs before my eyes land on his desk. “Have you ever had sex on that desk before?”
“One pump.” A trace of a smile crosses his face as he types. “Did we even make one full pump?”
“We were like pop guns.” I giggle.
“Speak for yourself.” He smiles too. “I was more like a cannon.”
“Oh, is that right?” I play along. “A cannon?”
“That’s right.”
“More like an atomic bomb.”
“Stop distracting me.” He smiles as he types.
Hmm…that’s a great idea.
“What about this?” I take my shirt off and throw it to the side. “Is this distracting?”
His eyes roam over my black lace bra to settle on my cleavage. “Yes. Distracting.” He keeps replying to his stupid emails.
