“Naseer, that’s not true. I love you and you broke up with me before the accident.”

“That fact hasn’t changed, you and I aren’t together, I mean it.” I lean closer to her so she can hear my growl and how irate I am. “Nadra everything about you glitters, shines, and attracts but you aren’t even gold, Mariam doesn’t glitter yet she’s the rarest gem I’ve ever found. If you go after Mariam, I won’t hesitate to strike you.” She’s taken aback and probably didn’t expect I would ever think to strike her, my God I will if she tries to hurt Mariam.

“I’m sorry, Naseer, I won’t speak with her again but why can’t you and I work things out? Our families will be thrilled.” She looks animated saying family will be thrilled. Does she even realize she just said family and not us or her in this case?

“That’s just it, there’s nothing for us to work out, we were over a long time ago and that hasn’t changed. I won’t be with a woman for family preference or thrill, you need to start telling your father the truth before I do.”

Her eyes widen. “You wouldn’t dare, Naseer.”

I smile, I have poked at the right spot.

“Why don’t you call my bluff and go after Mariam again, maybe then you will find out how I strike anyone that even thinks of hurting Mariam.”

“Fine, I’ll leave your rarest gem alone.” She snickers.

“Good, glad we have an understanding,” I retort with a smirk.

“What is it about her anyway, she’s pretty so what.” The deceitful Nadra is showing herself.

“The fact you don’t know will always be a misery to you. Good night, Nadra. I know you can find your way home. Make whatever excuse you like for my absence.”

I turn around and leave without a backward glance.

Jade left with Knox; my mind is raging at the thought of them together. His hands all over her body and kissing her. I head home after too many glasses and my mind won’t stop working. I call the guard that’s keeping an eye on her.

“Where is she?”

“She stopped at his hotel for a few minutes and they both returned to her place.”

“He’s with her at her place,” I shout.

“Yes, they just went in together.”

I hung up with him. I called her right away. The phone rings and goes to voicemail.

I called back again. “Hello.”

“Why is Knox at your place, Mariam? Why do you keep testing my limit?”

“He’s in the guest room, Naseer, does that answer the question I know is going on in your head.”

“No touching or kissing too, Jade.”

“Fine, anything else”

“No, goodnight. I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Goodnight, greeting to Princess Nadra.”

“Jade, I left her at the party and I’m sorry she came to speak with you in your office.”

“No apologies needed, Good night, Gent.”

“Good night, my lady”

I hang up and just like that relief washes over me. I fell asleep on my sofa. Jade is not in bed with Knox.
