Hazel smirked. “He dropped her off at Junk today. Isn’t he so cute?!”
Warmth spread through my body at Davix’s expression, and I pursed my lips together. If they knew Cade, then maybe they knew my brother, and I didn’t want word to get around town that I had hooked up with Cade last night. Pavel would kill him!
“He’s just a family friend,” I said.
“A sexy family friend.”
My cheeks burned in embarrassment. “He—I …”
“Have you ever thought about”—she wiggled her brows—“you know?”
“Hazel!” Davix growled. “Enough. Bring that girl home.”
I narrowed my eyes at him because he clearly knew more about me than just my name by now, and he had decided to call me that girl to, what? Make me feel bad about myself? Maybe make him feel superior to me and his own sister?
“Actually, yes, I have thought about it,” I hummed, answering Hazel’s question.
If he wanted to be a dick, then I could be a bigger one.
“He’s so—”
Before I could continue, Davix threw his beer down and marched over.
“If you aren’t going to take her home,” Davix growled, snatching my wrist and yanking me to a standing position beside him. He tugged on my arm, beginning to pull me through the woods and away from the lake. “Then I will.”
Except my house was in the other direction.
“Get off me!” I said, prying his hand away …
Or at least, trying to pry it away. This man was strong as hell.
He dragged me through the woods toward that big house that Hazel had brought me in earlier this evening. “I’m getting you clothes, then taking you home. And you’d better not ever come back here.”
“That’s not your decision. Hazel invited me.”
“It is my decision,” he growled. “I’m the—”
After stopping himself short, he shook his head and continued through the forest. I yanked as hard as I could on my wrist, but he wasn’t letting up.
“You’re distracting my p—my friends,” he said through clenched teeth. “Don’t come back.”
“You’re the only one who seemed distracted back there,” I said.
Suddenly, he stopped twenty feet from the house. “How do you know Cade?”
“I’m not telling you.”
“Yes, the fuck you are going to tell me. He’s dangerous.”
“As dangerous as that wolf you turned into yesterday?”
Suddenly, a ferocious growl left his throat, one that definitely wasn’t human. At first, I had thought it was the medication making me hallucinate, but his eyes had been glowing all night. And by the way he was reacting …
“What wolf?” he snarled. “You’re acting crazy.”
Oh, no … does he want me to beckon him out?
I crossed my arms, pressing my breasts even more together in the bikini. “Crazy?”
