Greg shook his head and frowned in disgust. “My son can’t even walk yet, and your trifling ass is already out on a date.”
My body tensed when Quinton grabbed my hand. “You good?”
“Yeah, she’s good. You not gon’ introduce me to your friend, baby mama?” Greg asked.
“I’m only that when it’s convenient for you. Who I have in my life is none of your concern. When was the last time you even saw your son?”
“You so busy running around with another nigga, you ain’t worried about me seeing my son. Don’t act like you want me in his life now,” Greg snapped.
“I’m not doing this. Have a nice night, Greg.”
“Nah, don’t try to dismiss me. You told me you wasn’t interested in dating nobody but got a nigga in your face.”
Quinton released my hand, moving forward to step between me and Greg.
“That’s enough, man,” he said, holding up his hand.
“Who the fuck are you anyway, bro? You up here with this bitch and my baby like this your family.”
“You need to lower your voice. The lady already tried to remind you that this was a children’s establishment.”
“You don’t fucking check me. Who the hell you supposed to be?” Greg snarled.
I almost yelped when Quinton grabbed my ass and pulled me closer to him.
“I’m her man. I brought her and our boys here to have a good time, not to go back and forth with the nigga who was dumb enough to fumble her.”
Greg waved off his statement. “This really don’t concern you.”
“Everything about Shiloh and those boys concerns me, or I wouldn’t be here,” Quinton stated.
“You really think you got yourself something, don’t you? I bet this trifling-ass ho didn’t tell you she had me and another nigga both thinking we was Trey’s daddy. Then she wonder why I don’t want shit to do with her or that damn boy.”
“That’s a damn lie. I told you from the start that there was a possibility that someone else was his dad. We got the DNA test by the time he was a month old. It only took so long because you were dodging me.” I spoke up.
I couldn’t believe Greg was really trying to make me look like a jump-off after I slept with someone when we were on a break. It was a one-night stand that I regretted to this day. Sadly, I almost wished that the other guy had been Trey’s dad instead of him. I rather deal with a complete stranger than Greg’s dog ass any day.
“You don’t have to explain yourself, baby. As far as I’m concerned, Trey is mine now anyway. This weak-ass bitch don’t deserve to be around our son.”
“She like to play that innocent, sweet role when the whole time you out here with a thot.”
“It’s a good thing I love thots,” Quinton said, turning and giving me a quick peck on my lips.
“You can have this ho, bro. She ain’t worth her weight in beer cans.” Greg snarled.
“I’ma have to ask you not to disrespect my lady in or outside of my presence.”
“Fuck you and this ho. Who the fuck you—”
Greg’s words were cut off when Quinton chopped him in the throat. His date shrieked, drawing a few eyes to us. I didn’t know what to do. Out of instinct, I looked back to make sure the boys were OK. They were so busy coloring the sheets that were on the table that they weren’t even paying any attention to us.
“I asked you not to disrespect my lady. Let that be the last time.”
“Let’s go, Quinton,” I urged, pulling his hand.
“We’re not going anywhere. I promised you and the boys pizza,” he said, pulling out his wallet and passing me a credit card.
“What is this for?” I asked.
