Unthinkable

She bends down to get in my face. “Playing dumb, huh? What a pathetic little bitch you are.” Then she pulls back and looks me up and down. “Look at the state of you.”

I want to lash out and tell her that her husband likes me just the way I am, especially given his cum is still trickling out of me, but I need to make sure I’m pregnant first, and her taunting just adds to that need.

“Pathetic!” She spins on her heels and sashays out of the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

Thoughts of abandonment cause my stomach to clench and my hands to shake. There’s no way I will be able to stand it.

None.

I need him. I want him. He’s the man I’ve loved since the moment I laid eyes on him, and with that thought in mind, I scroll on to the next part of my plan.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

JENSEN

“Are you pleased to be back?” Zane asks, staring ahead with a deadpan face, glaring at the traffic as if it offends him.

By being back, I know he means with him, Miko, and Sal. He’s testing the waters to make sure I won’t be leaving anytime soon.

“The underground has taken off,” he says, referring to the fight club Massio recently helped create.

He’s right, the place has been buzzing, the money is flowing in, and the fighters are just as thirsty for more. “I noticed.” I smirk, unprepared to give him any more than that. He wants reassurance that I’m not going anywhere, and while I certainly plan on sticking around, that’s more to do with my little nightmare than anything else. Whatever my plans will be, she will be at the center of it, and I doubt Amanda is going to take the change coming her way well. For now, I just need to pacify her until it’s over.

“Are you sticking around this time?” He turns into a parking lot, and I glance out the window at the derelict buildings around us.

“Maybe.”

I swear I hear him grind his teeth, then he masks his anger, delivering me with a smile I see straight through. “Fern was saying there’s a punk at Immie’s swim practice that offered to take her on a date.”

My spine bolts straight as if I’ve been electrocuted.

“He’s meeting her Sunday night.”

Like fucking hell he is. Anger boils inside me, but I try my best to remain calm and not give away how truly pissed I am.

“A group of them are going to go to Rush.”

“Rush?” My eyebrows shoot up.

“And you’re okay with this?” I lift my eyebrow.

He nods. “Fen thinks he’s being clever, but little does he know that Miko has arranged it all on his behalf.”

I snort when I consider his words.

“We put them all upstairs on the VIP floor while keeping a close eye on them. Our close eyes on them, to be precise.” He checks the magazine of his gun to make sure it’s loaded, then tucks it into the waistband of his pants. “I’m going to go and check out Fen’s girlfriend again.” He smirks.

My eyes widen. Fen and Zane have always had a turbulent relationship. Even from a young age, it’s been fraught. Personally, I think Fen struggles with the expectations of his father. He knows damn well Zane wants him to follow in his footsteps in an arranged marriage and La Familia. Whereas I’ve witnessed his passion, and that’s fighting, something Zane is in the dark about. Though I’m not sure how much longer we can keep it under wraps.

“Does he know this?” I lift my eyebrow.

“No.” He licks his lips. “Are you in?”

Damn fucking right I’m in. I give him a swift nod.

Then, as if on cue, we both turn and step out of the car.

I adjust the knuckle-duster and deliver another swift blow to the fucker’s face. Colin Brady is a local notorious dealer, one who’s been skimming off the top of our takings despite us having an agreement with his gang that goes back decades.
