“Ethan,” I whimpered, staring at him and imploring him to make me scream. I loved it when he did that, and he loved hearing it. “God,” I panted, feeling the sweat on my skin, the sweat on his. He lifted one of my legs and placed it over his shoulder, the change in angle providing a sense of fullness I came to love. A few hard thrusts, and I was indeed screaming, my back arched off the floor while my body shook. Ethan followed shortly after, the tremble of his own body dragging out the tremble in mine. Before my orgasm tapered off, he’d lowered my leg, and wrapped it around his waist, lowering his body on mine.
“Fuck,” he muttered into my neck, rolling his hips the way I liked. “I’m never going to tired of this, little Bird. Your body was made for me, and mine for you. There can’t be anyone else.”
With my heart pounding away in my throat, my body coming down from an Ethan-induced euphoria, I knew it was now or never. He lifted his head, glanced at me, and gave me a crooked smile.
“I love you,” I whispered, feeling moisture pool at the corners of my eyes. I had never uttered those words to a romantic partner before, not that I’d had all that many before Ethan, and it terrified me. And when his smile faltered, I assumed I’d made a mistake. Until he said, “I love you too.”
Then I smiled, feeling the tears slide down the side of my face. “Do you think it’s too fast?” I asked quietly, trying to reconcile how I felt with how short a time we’d been together.
“No,” he replied, kissing me softly. We’d be going a second time in minutes. “When you know, you know.”
Istartle when my phone rings, aware that I’m both turned the fuck on and crying. I quickly wipe my face when I see it’s Harlan calling and answer.
“Hello?” Shit. My voice is hoarse. I can’t have Harlan asking me why, I’d have to tell him about the little game Ethan has been playing with me and Harlan won’t take kindly to me being toyed with. If Ethan is, in fact, toying with me. His intent hasn’t exactly become clear yet.
“Bird, I called to make sure you’re okay? You were supposed to be here half-an-hour ago.” Guilt burns in my chest, I hate making my brother worry.
“I, uh, yeah, sorry. I got held up at the café, but I’m leaving now. I’ll see you in a bit.”
“Do I need to send a driver?”
I don’t even need to contemplate it — I’m far too tired to walk, even though Liv is also in Tribeca like me.
“That would be great,” I sigh, chasing the memory in my head back to the black hole I buried it in. “I just don’t have dessert.”
Harlan’s chuckling while I discard of the blondies in the trash. I won’t be needing them after all. “You don’t always have to bring dessert, Bird.” He murmurs something in the background, probably to Liv, and then to me he says, “William is on his way. He’ll be there in ten minutes.”
Perfect. Ten minutes to pull myself towards myself so as to avoid Harlan asking me five thousand questions about why I’m upset. I’d hate to have to explain that it’s not so much being upset but more being sexually frustrated. It’s the kind of conversation every girl dreams of having with her big brother. Not.
