“Hey, Maggie.”
“Milo?”
“Yeah. How busy are you guys?”
“Not too bad yet. Saturdays are slow until late afternoon. Are you ordering?”
“I need an extra-large double pepperoni.”
“That’s a lot of pizza for you and Frenchie.”
“Wilda and Caleb are moving into the downstairs bedroom today.”
“Oh, I heard something about that. Is this a good Samaritan thing, or a let’s see where this goes thing?”
Wilda was standing nearby. “The first one.”
“Okay. But the second one is…a possibility?”
“Hmm. I don’t think so.”
She sighed. “We’ll see, I guess. Anything else?”
“Let’s add an order of garlic knots.”
“Okay.”
“That’s it, I guess. Wilda will be in to pick it up.”
“Give us about thirty minutes.”
Wilda stayed at the rental to clean up while Mathias followed Milo to the house. Caleb wanted to ride with Milo since pulling the trailer was more exciting than riding with his uncle.
Milo glanced at him. “Are you excited about living in the pretend haunted house with me?”
Caleb gave him a thumbs-up.
“Good. I’m pretty excited to have you. So is Frenchie.”
When they got to the house, Caleb ran off to find Frenchie, and Milo opened the trailer door. “Okay. What’s going where?”
Mathias came up beside him. “She said the two chairs and the coffee table are going in the living room. Everything else goes in her bedroom.”
“Got it.” Milo climbed into the trailer and shoved one of the chairs toward Mathias. “Let’s start with this.”
By the time Wilda arrived with the pizza, they had two chairs and the coffee table in the living room. Since Wilda's dining set had replaced the folding chairs from the kitchen, the chairs were on the porch. Mathias opened two of them, and they all sat down with the pizza on a box.
Wilda put a small slice of pizza on a paper plate for Caleb. “I think you need to invest in some furniture for the porch. Nice matching chairs that aren’t plastic or folding. Maybe a table or two. Some plants.”
Mathias nodded. “A barbecue.”
Milo took a slice of pizza from the box. “A barbecue is at the top of my list.”
“When you get it, I’ll supply the first round of steaks.”
“Sounds good.”
Frenchie was lying under Caleb’s chair, and when a slice of pepperoni fell, he snatched it up. Wilda laughed. “Frenchie knows where the good seat is.”
