Bang on time.
He pulls it from his pocket without breaking eye contact. “What?”
Silence follows while he listens, and for the first time, his focus shifts away from me.
“Stop talking in riddles.”
Confusion creases his brow before his gaze cuts to Keira. Whoever is on the other end has just told him whose name is on the deeds.
He’s being told that the land he intended to take from our father belongs to her now.
To Keira.
Saint thought kidnapping Keira gave him leverage. Instead, the stretch of heathland beside the river now belongs to her, and the Gardaí already know she’s here.
The smallest smile pulls at my mouth.
Saint ends the call and lowers his gun. “Take your brother and get off my land.”
Keira rushes to him. Her hand closes around his, but Saint rips himself free.
“What’s going on?”
“Get off my land, Harrington.”
The venom in his voice stops her. Her lips part, but nothing comes out. Her eyes shine as she blinks quickly and reaches for him again.
“Saint—”
Their gazes lock.
“You’re not welcome here anymore. Leave.”
Keira’s fingers curl into her palm. “I don’t understand…” Her voice cracks. “What happened to me and you…”
Saint pivots and starts walking away while she’s still speaking.
“To us being—”
Her hand remains suspended between them before slowly falling to her side.
My sister has faced our father at his worst without lowering her chin. Now it trembles as she presses her lips together, fighting to keep herself composed in front of every man in the yard.
Saint will pay for that.
Keira presses a shaky hand to her stomach and walks towards the Range Rover without another word.
My attention returns to Sera.
“Time to go,” she says. “Next time I see ya, I won’t aim for the sky.”
“Point a gun at me again, and I’ll shoot you first.”
I wink, then turn my back on her and stroll towards the Range Rover.
Keira sits facing the passenger window, one hand pressed to her stomach. I climb behind the wheel and start the engine.
“Let’s get you home.”
