Eilish draws back her shoulders. “I want to pick my own dress. I don’t like any of these.”
His gaze moves over the gown, and there’s something in his eyes that haunts me. Maybe it’s the lack of emotion at seeing his bride-to-be in a wedding dress. “Fine.”
The stylist blinks. “Sir?”
“She doesn't like the damn dresses.”
Eilish looks startled.
Fionn removes his gloves finger by finger, unhurried. “Bring her other options. Whatever the cost.”
The stylist practically bows. “Of course, but the notes from your mother were very clear about the preferred silhouette.”
“My mother isn’t the bride.”
“No, sir.”
“Miss Tallon was very clear about the collection my mother chose.” He doesn’t look at me. “She’s right. Give the bride whatever she wants.”
Something warm and horrifying moves through my chest. Fionn Harrington just agreed with me without giving me his eyes.
Fionn folds the gloves together and sets them on the arm of the nearest chair. “Eilish has excellent taste. A bride should choose her own dress.”
For a second, I almost like him. Naturally, that can’t be allowed.
So, I snort out a laugh. “Shame she can’t pick her husband.”
Eilish utters a small, defeated groan. The stylist freezes with her hand on the pincushion.
Fionn turns his head toward me, and my pulse jumps.
The look in that gaze reminds me of the man from the gym. The man who pinned me to the mats and had me aching for him.
“Miss Tallon,” he says.
My skin tightens at the formality. “Mr. Harrington.”
“You’re very comfortable speaking for other women.”
“I’m very comfortable noticing when they’re being mistreated.”
“And yet Eilish asked me to come here.”
That shuts me up for half a second. My gaze tears to Eilish. “You called him?”
Her cheeks go pink. “I texted him in the dressing room.”
“You texted Fionn?”
“I needed to tell him the options aren't right.”
The words knock some of the sharpness out of me.
“She asked me for help.” He shrugs like that was a normal thing for her to do. “So I came.”
“How heroic. Do you invoice separately for emotional availability, or is that included in the full Harrington package?”
“It seems like you're the predictable Tallon package.” His eyes rake over me. “Smart mouth and tight denim.”
