Three dots appear almost immediately.

Wyatt:

He says thank you.

I’m still smiling when I get out of bed.

By the time I meet Nadia for lunch, I’m glad for the distraction from work and my revolving thoughts about Wyatt.

Nadia takes one look at me across the table and pounces on whatever she sees written there.

“Okay, girl. Tell me everything.”

I grin because I can’t not grin. “Okay, let me see. Work is great. We finally got approval on the new campaign, although they want us to change the copy again, which is annoying because they specifically approved the copy last week. Oh, and I think my upstairs neighbor got a treadmill.”

Nadia stares at me.

“At least I assume it’s a treadmill. Either that or she’s taken up bowling at six in the morning.”

“Quinn.”

“What?” I play innocent.

“I’ve known you too long for this shit.” She points at me across the table. “You walk in here with a sex face, and now you’re telling me about your neighbor’s cardio routine.”

I almost choke on my water from laughing. “What the hell is a sex face?”

“It’s the exact face you have right now.” She leans back in her chair, looking unbearably pleased with herself. “So unless your marketing campaign has recently learned how to give orgasms, I’m going to need you to start over.”

I take a long, slow drink of water, drawing this out. Finally, I sigh. “Fine.”

Her whole face lights up.

“We had sex.”

“I knew it. So how was it?”

I laugh despite myself and shake my head. “It was good.”

Nadia leans closer. “Quinn Brennan, if you make me drag every single piece of information out of you individually, I swear to God.”

I grin, even as I feel my face getting hotter, which only makes her grin back. “I’m not giving you a play-by-play.”

“I don’t need positions and timestamps. I need emotional context.”

I laugh. “Since when?”

“Since my best friend finally slept with the man she’s been obsessing over forever.”

“It was really good, okay? Better than I thought it would be, and not because of…” I wave a hand vaguely.

“The sex?”

“Yes, Nadia. The sex.”

She grins.

“But also everything around it. I was nervous, obviously, and he knew I was nervous, but he never made me feel weird about it. He just made it feel…” I search for the word. “Easy, I guess. Like there wasn’t anything I needed to prove.”
