He kisses me back with just as much desperation.
His hands finally settle on my waist, pulling me against him, and I almost start crying again because I know how close I came to losing this forever. Losing him.
I tighten my arms around his neck and kiss him harder.
Wyatt makes a low sound against my mouth before pulling back just enough to look at me.
“Fuck, Peachy.”
I can barely catch my breath. “What?”
He shakes his head, his forehead resting against mine. “You have no idea how fucking crazy I am about you.”
“You are?”
“Completely fucking gone, actually.”
I smile, and he brushes his thumb along my cheek, catching a tear I hadn’t even realized had escaped.
“I love you, Quinn.”
My chest aches at how easily he says it. How he can stand here after everything I put him through and still look at me like I’m the only woman in the world.
“I love you, too.”
His thumb stills against my cheek.
“Now.” He gives my waist a gentle squeeze. “Can we go back to what we were doing before?”
I laugh, and this time, it doesn’t turn into a sob. “God, yes.”
“Excellent.”
He leans in, but I catch his face between my hands before he can kiss me.
“One more thing.”
Wyatt closes his eyes, pretending to be exasperated. “Yes, Peachy?”
I smile despite myself.
“I’m not going to do that again,” I tell him. “Make a decision for you because I’m scared. I promise.”
He opens his eyes. For a moment, he just looks at me, and then his expression softens.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Yeah.” He brushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “Now, are you done?”
I pretend to consider it.
“Almost.”
“Jesus Christ, woman.”
“I love you.”
