Fate Made Us Do it
Evan: I LOVE YOU.
Beau: We love you.
Terror screams through me.
Why does that sound like a goodbye?
I struggle up onto my knees on the drop cloth.
Fate Made Us Do it
Paige: Beau?
No reply.
Paige: Evan?
My throat hurts from the sobs trapped in it, as I force myself to keep typing.
They were just talking to me. They must still be there.
Paige: Please answer me. I’m here.
Then I scream as agony hits me like I’ve never felt before. It sears through the bond mark in my neck, throwing me onto my back.
I thrash from side to side, clawing at my throat.
I feel like my soul is being torn from me, as my bond shatters.
Like the snapping of a band, I can no longer feel Beau. His warm emotions and protection are simply gone.
I am empty.
Hollowed out.
They’re dead…they’re dead…they’re dead…
The pain of my grief is worse than the pain that is crashing through my body.
I rip at my clothes and hair, wild with grief.
Beau, I try to whisper. Evan. As if saying their names will mean that they haven’t died in a crash, but I can’t even form any words, I’m too weak.
They are as lost to me as my pack.
Instead, under the shock of the breaking bond, my body shuts down.
My vision tunnels until everything becomes black.
