“Didn’t I tell you?” Paige scrambles off my lap to move the needle back to the outer edge of the record, and the hiss and crackle, followed by soft music fills the attic again. “This song is about being held, as much as dancing, Alpha.”
Paige leaps to her feet.
She is so full of life that I am too.
I can do this.
My chest is tight, but I clamp down on the anxiety, prowling to my feet.
I wrap my arms around Paige’s neck. She slides her arms around my waist.
My heart is pounding. My neck flushes red to have an Omega this close.
When I attempt to spin Paige, however, we both fall over each other’s feet and crash into the chimney.
I laugh, and she is laughing too.
We are holding each other, however, pressed against each other.
And finally, I understand it.
What matters is being held.
What happens at the end of these two weeks, however, when I must let go?
CHAPTER TEN
Acorn Inn, Oak Hollow
Angel
“I always dreamed about brushing my Omega’s hair like this.” I run the stiff horsehair bristles of the antique walnut brush through Paige’s long hair. “You doing okay there, beautiful?”
“Hmm, ask me again when you hit a knot.”
“Ouch, don’t say things like that to an Alpha. It’s triggering.”
Paige’s laugh surprises us both.
It’s the prettiest damn sound I’ve heard. I’d do anything to coax it from her again.
Paige relaxes further, sitting cross-legged in front of me on the end of the bed. “Is it triggering to say that I find you cute in those deer pajama shorts?”
I blush. “Luca bought them for me.”
I wonder if Luca has a stag kink? He likes dressing me up as one.
As long as Paige doesn’t find out about the deer onesie…
Paige is wearing nothing but my hoodie, which goes down to her thighs.
Seeing an Omega dressed in my clothes, inside her own home, fills my chest with warmth.
This feels so right like I hoped it would.
I have been desperate for over a week to move in with Paige.
Now that I have, however, I realize how much harder this will be than I dreaded.
