Knot My Fate

Page 7

by Rosemary A. Johns

Evan: ARE YOU OKAY?

I groan.

I have been working hard to control my emotions through the bond, but I should have known that there was no way Beau couldn’t sense my distress.

He would have been working equally hard to keep calm and not alarm Evan.

After all, what can they do until they arrive home anyway?

Fate Made Us Do it

Paige: Nothing’s wrong.

Beau: Try again.

Paige: I’m fine.

I try not to think about the slick sliding down my quivering thighs or Devlin lurking beneath the oak.

Fate Made Us Do it

Beau: Less convincing.

Paige: Just need y’all home.

Evan: Miss us already? One long weekend is too much to go without Evan goodness.

Paige: I miss you. Also…I’m in heat.

I hold my breath.

One.

Two.

Three.

Fate Made Us Do it

Beau: We’ll be there. We’re coming. Are you in a nest?

Evan: WHY DIDN’T YOU START WITH THAT? WHY ARE YOU TELLING US JUST NOW?

Beau: No shouting at the Omega in heat. But how long?

I take a deep breath, before I type:

Paige: I woke up hot. Reckoned I was going down with the flu. But reckoned I could paint through it. Turns out I was wrong.

I wrap my arm around my middle, as my eyelashes flutter.

My throat works, as I swallow with difficulty.

Shit, I’m thirsty.

Fate Made Us Do it

Beau: Damn it.
