Am I adrenaline-drunk?

I risk snapping the tornado a salute over my shoulder. “Better luck next time, asshole. I’m not yours to take. I’m my Omega’s, and she’s waiting for me at home.”

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Acorn Inn, Oak Hollow

Paige

I push Luca against the wall in the dim corridor, kissing him.

I feel like I haven’t stopped kissing him — or he hasn’t stopped kissing me — since he returned from the storm, shaking but also thrumming with a manic energy like he’d been struck by lightning.

He sprinted into the hospital room and grabbed Rhett by the shoulders. “I’m alive. You’re alive. We’re all alive.”

“Thank Christ.” Rhett made a wounded sound, dragging Luca into a deep kiss. “We thought…”

He broke off like it was too painful to voice the agony that we’d gone through when we saw on the app the cyclone hitting Butterfly Creek.

Angel threw himself across the room to hug Luca’s back.

He was crying too hard to say anything.

Luca squirmed out of both the men’s holds.

His eyes were wide and luminous. “I outran the cyclone. It hit, and all I could think was I had to get back home. When I finally arrived, everybody was gone. Then I found the missed calls and texts.”

“I’m fine,” Rhett protested.

“He will be.” Angel glanced between them. “Are you hurt, pretty?”

Luca shook his head. “I don’t remember ever feeling this good.”

He turned, and his gaze snagged on mine.

My bones felt like they’d been turned to hot molasses. I sank into his hold, as he caught me.

“I reckoned I’d lost you, Alpha,” I whispered.

“Not possible.” Luca’s gaze was more intense than I’d been expecting. “Omega, I came back for you.”

He came back for me…he outran the storm for me…

Now, I deepen the kiss for a heartbeat, pressing Luca’s back more firmly against the inn’s wall. His mouth yields, and his tongue twines around mine.

My hand slides to Luca’s jaw, tracing the warmth of his skin.

My fingers curl into his tan shirt. In turn, he bunches his fingers in the olive jacket, which is the only thing I am wearing.

I haven’t taken it off since we returned to the inn.

I need to be cocooned in Luca’s scent.

Rhett leans against the wall next to us in his plaid shirt and jeans like a man who spends most of his time lounging against things and looking gorgeous while doing it.

He appears fond and amused, as much as he is enjoying our display.

The voyeur.
