CHAPTER 1
LUKE
The best part of living in a town full of supes was knowing that on the full moon I was pretty much guaranteed to find a hot shifter to put me through the mattress. Case in point, the beefy, bearded guy who’d just slipped into the seat next to me at the bar and was looking me up and down with undisguised interest.
I clocked him immediately as a werewolf—my favorite kind of hookup. My mom was a Were, and although I hadn’t inherited the ability to shift, I could sense other shifters easily enough, and werewolves pinged extra hard on my radar.
I gave him an easy smile. “Hey there, handsome.”
“Hey, yourself,” he said, returning the smile. “Can I buy you a drink?”
“You could. Or we could skip that part and just go back to my place.” I didn’t see the point of subtlety, not when we were clearly here for the same thing. There was only one reason gay guys went to Claude’s Bar and Grill on a full moon, and it wasn’t for the grill.
“You’d take a stranger to your place?” he asked, raising one dark brow. “You don’t even know my name.”
I flashed him another teasing grin. “So tell me your name. And as for taking you back to my place, I’m hoping that by the time we’re done I won’t be able to walk straight, so it makes sense.”
He laughed. “I can’t argue with that. Name’s Cal.”
“And I’m Luke. You’re a wolf, right?”
He nodded. “You?”
“I’ve got the genes, but I don’t shift,” I said. “Now, wanna take me home, fold me in half, and fuck me stupid?”
His grin widened. I finished my drink, and when we stood I saw that he was a full head taller than me, which was impressive considering I was just a whisker over six feet. As we made our way to the door, he rested a hand on the small of my back. Heat radiated off his broad palm through the thin fabric of my tank top, and I gave a shiver of anticipation.
My apartment was only a few blocks away from Claude’s. Hyde was one of those little coastal towns that was built along the coastline and consisted of a crosshatch of one long meandering main street, several intersections, and a series of little offshoots, so everything was close to everything else. The streets were mostly lined with weathered cedar cottages and Cape Cods, but when I’d moved into my own place I’d chosen to live in one of the town’s two apartment buildings, purely because I didn’t want to take care of a yard.
It didn’t take long for us to get back to my apartment. I jogged up the stairs with Cal following hot on my heels, and we’d barely made it in the door before he had me pinned against the wall, hands roaming over me as he kissed me hot and dirty. When he pulled back, his eyes flashed gold and he rasped out, “If I let my wolf out a little, you okay with that?”
Another shiver ran through me. I fucking loved werewolves—or rather, I loved fucking werewolves and having them fuck me—and nothing turned me on like seeing their wolf on display. “More than okay,” I said, my own voice rough.
Cal’s answering smile verged on feral, and I caught a glimpse of fang. It was hot as fuck. I took his hand and dragged him to the bedroom, where we both hurried to undress. Moonlight streamed through the open blinds, reflecting off the muscled planes of Cal’s body, and I took a second to admire the sight. He was tall, buff, and built like a tank. Once we were both naked it didn’t take long for us to get onto the bed and for him to have me pinned underneath his bulk and even less time for him to have two fingers up my ass.
I tilted my head back and bared my throat, just to tease him. He let out a low groan and got to work prepping me quickly but thoroughly. He was good with those big hands of his, his expert touch sending waves of pleasure rolling over me. I was squirming with need by the time he paused to growl out, “Condom?” Not that there was any need—fun fact, werewolves were immune to STDs, even those of us who didn’t shift.
I shook my head, desperate for him to get back to what he’d been doing. “I like it messy.”
Cal’s eyes gleamed, and he flashed me a wicked smile. “I like it that way too. Hands and knees?”
I nodded and scrambled to obey. He sank his cock inside me in one long, smooth thrust. I braced myself on my forearms and arched back into the stretch and sting of it. “Okay?” he asked through gritted teeth.
I nodded. I was more solidly built than a regular human and I’d inherited werewolf stamina, which came in handy at times like this. “More than okay. Don’t hold back.”
And he didn’t.
He fucked me hard and fast, letting out a series of low noises that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Heat pooled in my belly, gathering until I felt like I might burst into flames. The room was bathed in moonlight and the slap of skin on skin echoed off the walls, along with the noises he was fucking out of me. My arousal ratcheted up with every one of Cal’s solid, unrelenting thrusts, and it wasn’t long before I was teetering on the edge. He was fucking me so hard that even my fingertips were tingling, and it was phenomenal.
And then he reached under me and wrapped a hand around my cock, and that was all it took. My orgasm slammed into me, my vision whiting out as Cal stroked me through it, and as I came, I threw my head back and howled.
I froze.
What the fuck?
I didn’t howl. I’d never howled.
Cal slammed into me one last time and stilled as he came, and he was panting when he leaned forward and kissed my shoulder. “Thought you didn’t shift?” he said with a breathless laugh.
