I tried texting and calling on my way here and neither was going through.
Something doesn’t sit right with me.
I jog to his car and check out the barn.
Both are empty except for some old farming equipment.
The house it is.
I hope that dumbfuck hasn’t gone and got caught snooping around.
The proximity of his car to the house and the fact the gate was closed have me thinking that’s exactly what his stupid ass has done. That or I’m walking into a trap.
Heading back towards the house, I slink around and find a rock, throwing it at the front door before running to the side. I’m not stupid enough to charge right in. Want them to know I’m here first.
But that was my mistake. Because instead of the front door opening or hearing anyone running around inside, I hear a click right behind me and the butt of a gun is touching my head.
“Don’t fucking move,” Sam growls out at me.
“The fuck man, what are you doing?” Seriously, what the fuck is going on right now? I go to move, but Sam shoves the gun harder.
“I said don’t fucking move. I want you on your knees.”
And there it is, my best friend, a fucking traitor. I go to swing around quickly, knowing I can take his ass out, but before I get the chance, Hope comes into view in front of me, swinging around a fucking hatchet.
“Well, finally my man is here,” she purrs, looking highly fucking unhinged. Her eyes are wide with this crazy twinkle to them.
Sam grunts behind me. “One more fucking time, Pike. On the fucking ground. Knees!” Not knowing if I can take them both on without getting seriously fucking hurt, I do what he says. I don’t know what fucking game is happening here.
“Where’s that fucker, Horace?” I grunt out as I get down.
“Where do you think, ass wipe? You ain’t very smart, are ya? Really? Just thought you’d come here and get your so-called justice? Fuck no. this was a setup to get you caught so he could finally get his hands on that bitch,” Sam says as he secures my wrists with handcuffs.
Fucking moron. He should know that I can get these off easily. I practiced that shit for years, thinking one day I’d get caught and wanted be to able to know how to get out of them so I could get away.
Sam jerks me up roughly and Hope gives him a small glare. “I don’t want him hurt too badly.”
“Hope, shut up. I don’t get your fucking obsession with him. I’ve done everything for you I could. Yet here you are, still worried about the so called loved of your life. He fucking hates you, wants you dead as much as you want Delaney dead. Why don’t you get that?”
Okay then, so they are both fucking nuts. But I still don’t know what the fuck is happening here. Why is Sam fucking doing this? Hope I get, but not Sam. If anyone was a fucking traitor, I would have expected that slimeball Jared.
What the fuck is happening? If Horace harms Delaney or my sister, I will make his death long and painful. Sam and this stupid cunt will get the same treatment.
Chapter Twenty–seven
Tossed into the back of a really old beat-up truck, Talia and I just give each other looks. Mine is probably fear filled beyond reason, but she looks calm. What the heck? How can she be calm? When Horace gets into the front seat, she gives me a wink and a smirk, as if it’s all going to be okay somehow.
Horace raises his voice and slams his hand on the steering wheel as he says, “The day has finally come, you stupid little bitch. I’ll finally get what I paid for. Though not all of what I paid for. Hopefully, your ass is still a virgin, since I know you fucked that fucker pig.” So much anger is radiating off him.
My blood runs cold. What does he mean what he paid for?
He’s not getting anywhere near my ass.
I shudder at the thought.
I’m terrified. Seriously so terrified, I’m afraid I’ll wet my pants.
Horace is what every nightmare I have ever had is made of.
