Sin Bin for the Billionaire

by C.D. Gorri

“Your hospitality is overwhelming.”

I narrow my eyes. His mouth twitches.

There he is. My arrogant billionaire asshole.

I hate how much I've missed him.

I grab the remote and settle onto the couch.

Mitchell sits beside me.

Not too close. Not too far away either.

Just...

There.

We start the movie. A scary movie because after the last romcom hangover I had, I’m staying away from all things romance.

But I couldn't tell you what happens in the first twenty minutes.

I'm too aware of him.

The warmth of his body beside mine.

The faint scent of his cologne.

The way his thigh is only a few inches from mine.

The fact that he keeps his hands firmly to himself.

The cold medicine starts working.

My body gets heavy. My head feels fuzzy. And somewhere around the halfway point, maintaining six inches of emotionally appropriate distance starts feeling like entirely too much effort.

I shift. Just a little.

My shoulder brushes his.

Mitchell doesn't move.

So I shift again. Then I give up pretending and rest my head against his shoulder.

His entire body goes still.

I almost laugh.

This man negotiates billion-dollar deals without blinking, but apparently my head on his shoulder is enough to short-circuit him.

Then his arm comes around me.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Giving me plenty of time to pull away.

I don't. I curl a little closer.
